Default Peasents went through spartan like training apparently

SO in my campaing as the sassanids i just took Sidon from the romans, with my 2 units of Cinbarii and generals unit being able to single handedly smash any roman force in one charge, in fact after 5 battles the 3 units had only taken 12 casualites combined. So the Romans seige me with an army almsot entirely of peasents, with one veteran legion mercanary unit backing them up. So i sally forth an auto resolve....the result came back as a draw with me taking twice as many casualties as them...what the crap? So i load the auto save and fight in manually, using my archer and slingers to pepper the peasent horde (he had 2400 men) whilst my calvary got in place. They charge home, the same type of charge that instantly routed 1400 roman heavy infantry outside antioch...and the peasents hold. Needless to say it took 10 minutes and cost me 44 calvary to kill 2000 peasents and a few legions...what the crap? I enjoyed seeing my armoured tanks, er horses, bend the line and was impressed by the peasents that the romans apparently shipped over from sparta.

Spartacus, probably one of the few who could rival Alexander in battlefield tactics. My favorite historical figure. But I've had the same happen for me in M2TW where I i was able to defend my settlement with a few peasant units againts 10 trained infantry. Sometimes we get lucky, or not so lucky.

you kidding right? Spartacus fought cheap generals and green troops, and he used veteran gladiators. He also had the advantage was roman arrogance. Rome didn't expect any really fight.

So what could Rome use? the Legions were tied up in Pontus and Hispania. Whats left is militia. Rome summoned up a lot of militia, and they fought the first fight. Inexperianced men fighting an experianced force (Spartacus's men WERE gladiators, they fight for a living) is not a fair fight. Of course they were broken. So the second battle? They won that fight! They got cocky with that, and charged recklessly against Spartacus, who won that battle. Finally Crassus, a man of mediocre skill fought him, but was prepared for a tough fight, and finally won.

    so..
battle one- Rome used petty militia
    battle two- Rome WON
battle three- Rome got cocky with the previous victory
    battle four- Rome won.

You cannot even slightly compare Spartacus to Alexander.
