    I do.

However, according to the statements of team members, not gonna happen.

Would take too much work+it would break a few game mechanisms (there can be only 1 custom settlement type for a certain tier settlent of a certain culture).

While this is true, I think it would be entirely worth it.

Plus it would be nice that most cities would need to be capped at fortress/large city. I always hate it when every city is Huge and castle Citadel before 1300. It takes away the uniqueness and importance of cities/castles that should be prominent.

Yes, but now there would be a reason for certain cities to be huge/citadels.

normal buildings are the worst part of TATW.

But in SS, well, buildings are buildings, they are according to medieval time and civs, so what's the problem?.

IMO its just work (too much) to change things so they look different, but not adding anything new.

I think you misunderstand. Custom settlements isn't about retexturing. It's about creating historical layouts for settlement battle maps.

ah well, that would be nice, but still big work, i mean, its not the same playing minas tirith with medieval buildings than jerusalem with some arabic-like buildings, so work wouldnt deliver same level of improvement.

But im not the one who is gona say NO to an improvement

    Check out all the improvements:

Specifically look at Minas Tirith. Think about doing the same thing with Jerusalem, Rome, Constantinople, etc. The thought alone gets me so aroused

One thing that might be interesting is to make permanent forts with village models and place them around the map to fill up places like Russia where the distances between settlements are large... and maybe somehow put a penalty on the province owner if these 'villages' in the province are taken by another faction... Might make for some interesting possibilities.

    @Rakou

It would... Maybe put an income and troop recruitment penalty (Since there would be fewer places to draw men from) on the regions capital if they are taken?

Of course if such a thing is possible, but I think you can tie scripts to permanent forts, I'm sure I saw some mods that did that.

the problem with real Medieval cities is simply the enormous size of prominent settlements and thus an extreme load of work. But also the performance is something very critical and the whole process has to be very well thought out.
For example, the biggest city in TATW will be Osgiliath which needed months of work, but even this size would not be sufficient for 'real' medieval cities.

However, castles and fortresses are a completely different thing and even after all my TATW settlements my mind is still full of building plans.

Thanks for the explanation, Great Kong! And additional building plans sounds very promising

Well I think it would be impossible to make Constantinople or any Medieval city to scale. But one can make it so you have a battlefield that resembles the city. For example you can attack Constantinople from One direction and it has two walls even if the "city" itself still has the same square kilometers as a regular huge city in vanilla. The objective of making you go through the same tactics as Mehmet the Conqueror is completed.
