Default I owe it to you, and a question.

Finally, today I went out and bought myself another copy of Kingdoms. Why? Because I saw this mod for the first time.

So, thank you Stainless Steel, I'm installing Kingdoms as I type this.

Now my question: Since I need to assimilate to this entire, huge, great mod, I need to know what faction is... not easiest, but good to use to ease myself into the experience.

    Thanks a lot.

england and early era byzantium are probably the easiest,
early era campaign is easier generally.
    dont put BGR on
but for massive fun i recomend late era byzantium, which is much harder, but much funner.

    *edit*

and the easiest to get going is england, you are relatively safe on your islands, and can take many different routes on the campaign map to dominate the world. plus economy is good, and you dont lack unit variety.

Don't activate BGR 4. RealRecruitment is great IMHO, but if you want to be able to recruit the best units ASAP, disable it. SS is a major improvement, but the basics are the same. You can start with every faction without trouble. When things are becoming too easy and/or you're making tons of money - activate BGR 4 (but read the instructions first). It makes things a lot more interesting, but it can be a little overwhelming when you first try it. When you do, it's best to pick a small faction to get familiar with the system.

the easist faction but harder than england which is good to adapt to this mod, would be either aragon or leon castille, it teaches you to secure your boarders, and playing the art of diplomancy for bringing down the southern ibearian superpower, the moors. id recomend going late era though

Guys dont discuss pirating the game. It's against TWC rules and can get you banned.

Instead of starting a new topic, I thought I'd just ask my next question here.
I'm playing SS 6.3, and it takes about two minutes between turns.. I like it, but the turn length is ruining the entire game for me. Are there any other 6.x versions that don't take forever between turns? If not, I think I'll find another mod.

Go to the submods forum and install bane's script customisation submod. You can pick and choose which parts of the campaign script to have running (which is what slows down turn times)

Also, make sure you have windowed and borderless window mode on. That way you can alt+tab and reddit or whatever else when waiting for your turn.

No idea about 6.4, but in Vanilla and 6.1, I like the Holy Roman Empire(srsly) and Kingdom of Sicily. If you go all the way and download Caesar's Battle for the Baltic, you get Kingdom of Sweden too.

Sicily is great since you have a quasi-isolated starting position, and you get to pick on all kinds of fun enemies!

The Kwarezmians (sic) are also a good relatively easy intro to the game in the early campaign - but, and it's a big 'BUT' - the mongols WILL come.. and they WILL attack you, but only after 1200 so you have quite a long time to get established and also prepare for their arrival.
