Default The Mongols. I need help...

I don't need advice killing mongols; I need advice ultimately defeating them.
When I was playing as Hungary, I took out the Byzantines and owned Constantinople and some cities in Anatolia. Rhodes and Niccea (island near Jerusalem) were mine and they were good castles to send armies to the holy lands from. When the Mongols showed up, I fought against them well, taking out many of their full stacks, even though I lost A LOT of men.

So they took the Holy Lands eventually. They destroyed most of my armies in that region, and through many counter attacks and counter offenses I managed to take their last city and patted myself on the back after many turns of intense warfare.

    "A People in Flight"

They aren't gone? It conveniently spawned three stacks for them and they moved towards Jedda.
Honestly, how do you finally destroy them for good? I'm just going to quit if, every time they're killed, they spawn three stacks and go for another city.

The Mongols spawn in waves. There are about 12 stacks in total, spawned in 3 waves.

The Mongols are also a horde faction, so you can't kill them simply by taking all cities. They are not defeated unless you eliminate all family members on the map, and you've gone through all 3 waves.

Could they just have had some armies standing back there? It would be really weird if they could just keep spawning...but if you're in doubt you could build some watch towers and keep a lookout for units appearing

Assuming you have killed off all the waves that is

They don't keep spawning endlessly. There is a predetermined number of waves they spawn in.

Also, the spawn scripts don't care if the Mongols were defeated beforehand. So even if you defeat the first wave entirely before the second wave arrives, the second wave will still spawn.

You can´t destroy the Mongols by taking their cities - you have to kill all their family members.
If you do, the faction will vanish.

Also, the same thing goes for the Timurids.

Assasins come in handy vs. the mongols.. with most enemies, its just easier to kill their leaders through combat or siege. Its a lot more cost effective than training and 'leveling up' dozens of assasins.

THe huge and powerful armies of the mongols tho, its not so easy -- even to win big battles costs heavy casualties, so the costs and effort of using assasins is negleble.

IF you see the Mongols are about to take over one of your settlements -- destroy the military building(s), so any new troops they recruit will be 'levy spearmen' instead of 'mongol heavy infantry'

Try to place a few of your armies around the 'wave' of mongols, and try to draw them ou individually instead of .. 3 of your armies vs. 3 of theirs. You can do alot of that 'withdraw' and so on .

I agree with him. Using assassins is a very good way to eliminate mongols and it is also effective to use assassins while in combat or siege. I tried in many times.

Try trapping them in a valley or bridge where you can take em out one at a time.

Since the Mongols have massive amounts of units and full stacks, I would suggest you use siege weapons like ballistae, catapults and trebuchets against them. These weapons do serious area of effect damage and lower the morale of the enemy considerably. I've never faced the Mongols in combat myself (my campaigns rarely last that long) but that is what I would do, oh and use lots of archers.
"Muscovy", as its rulers have previously called it, is a sleeping giant, with age-old traditions and ways of doing things. Here, the feudal way of life has become so entrenched that the serfs are as tied to the land as cattle, and with almost as few rights. It is a vast, deeply conservative and religious country: Mother Russia and the Orthodox Church are the two pillars of national belief. The Tsar may be the father of his people, but by tradition and practice he is a stern parent. Ivan the Terrible was well named, and he has not been the only ruler with an iron will. Russia is the "Third Rome". The last bastion of Orthodox Christianity.

If you are a western faction looking to expand your empire into the Levant, it would be most prudent to wait until the Mongols have established themselves before you send in your invasion forces. Once the Mongols have established their "new homeland", they will tend to forget their stack-en-mass attack and be more conservative in their offensive movements. From that point on, an invading power will be able to fight the mongols stack v. stack, which is rather easy, if you understand how to fight the Mongols in the field. Make sure to quickly take any castles they are able to get, as their armies obviously rely on the strength of their cavalry. Once their 3rd wave has entered the theater, go on the offensive and take them out!

As an eastern faction, you are not granted the same freedoms as a catholic faction. The Mongols will take the fight to you, and you must be able to react. If I'm playing as the Byzantines/Turks, I pray the Mongols focus on Jerusalem. If they establish a homeland there, you can defend against them easily with Acre and Damascus (replenish using Adana/Antioch and Aleppo respectively). As the Egyptians, try to force them north to Antioch, as Acre and Jerusalem are equally defensible (using Gaza to train reinforcements).

The common denominator in either scenario is the combination of a static/elastic defense. Your critical outposts (Acre, Damascus, Jerusalem, Antioch, various river and mountain crossings in the Levant) must be defended, and you must have reinforcements ready to step in at a moments notice. Also, if your economy permits, take a medium sized army and flank their territory, as this might distract them and draw off a stack or two. Probably the most important point, however, is that you must allow the mongols to establish a "homeland" before you go on the offensive, and allow them to keep a region until you are ready to defeat the faction altogether. If you take out all the mongol's territories, they will simply retreat and return, returning with their vaunted stack-en-mass attack, which is extremely difficult to defend against.
