    Default Selling wonders

    Hey Guys,

Just started my first campaign as Koinon Hellenos (spelling?) I have just started and saw I can sell the statue of Zeus in Korithos (18.000) and the acropolis (also a lot of money).

Has anyone ever sold these to get a huge starting treasury? I am hessitant, it feels like cheating and would make it a lot easier. Can you rebuild these wonders? How do you guys think about it?

    regard,
    Skep

I never sell them unless I find myself on the verge of bankruptcy. If you destroy them you will never be able to rebuild them, so choose wisely. The huge start treasure is not that important, just improve your economy, don't spend too much money on the military and stay on the defensive. That's the best help I can offer

It's lame to sell them because they can't be rebuilt - and as KH you're soon going to have more money than you need anyway. Just go use those starting Spartan bodyguards to carve yourself a proper empire in Greece and Asia Minor.

Once I conquered Rhodos in my Makedonian campaign, I destroyed the Collosus. Since the statue was built to commemorate the victory of the Rhodians over the Makedonians, I thought it was fitting...

I also destroyed the statue in Rhodes in my Makedon campaign. It gives you a decent amount of money so yo uh can continue to take over Asia minor or Italy. As the KH thought, I would never think of such blasphemy! Lol I know in my Pahlava campaign I will be destroying every temple and statue in Greece, when I get there that is.

    Roma...will....fall.

^Haha, do whatever you like, but that isn't "historical" either. The Pahlavas would have no reason to dismantle local temples and shrines. The Acheamenids were quite tolerable towards local religions, and the Pahlavans also had good relations with the greeks in their empire. But it's a game, so do whatever you enjoy doing!

Ha thanks for your great reactions!
I didn't destroy anything, I have more than enough money after taking Demetrios and Thermon. Beating the Makedons so my Aegean Empire is starting to arrise.

I don't indulge in destroying/selling wonders, but that is my personal preference. however, the historical approach to the wonders is a good approach. so what do you do as Romani - taking Tolosa, do you drain that sacred lake and get the money (this time not going to the pockets of greedy Caepio) or do you let them be in order to have the wonder and keep the public order bonus?

actually, for some factions, destroying wonders (that owned by certain other factions) is more historically accurate, such:
    - as Makedonia, feel free to tear down that damned Collosus of Rhodos, since that collosus are symbol of Makedonian defeat, also feel free to drain any Getai wonders as revenge, just don't tear down the oracle and acropolis.
    - Also as AS, and Makedonia, tear down those Maolesum of Alexander at Alexandria, and then conquer Pella (or at least pretend to move the bodies of Alexandros, to the rightful place at Aigai), since Ptolemies stole that!
    - Destroying Roman wonders as Kart-Hadast is advisable, since they do vice versa IRL

I believe some wonders give bonuses only to certain factions, correct? If they are useless, tear them down for money.
