He is greeted by a man of a some small rank, Egypt not giving much heed to Roman drudges. Nonetheless formality is adhered too and both share in the customary greetings.
"What brings a Roman to our great nation?"
"The wars our two nations are engulfed in. We may be able to assist each other."

"Doubtful, there is little love lost between ourselves and the Numidians but though we would eagerly see them crushed, unlike Roma we do not choose to interfere in the affairs of other nations. Our war with them now is a direct result of your failed intrigue."
"Remember, it was Numidia, not Rome who first attacked in Africa. The true senate and Egypt share common enemies, should we not work togther to defeat and reap the rewards for all?"

"This isn't a matter who threw the first punch, your actions upset the balance of power and that madman Jugurtha would have us all damned if it gave him a chance to shame Rome. There are much greater concerns for us and right now Roma is too unstable for us to consider negotiations on a broad scale, certainly to the point where we are unable to do anything publicly."
"Then perhaps you and I could work out sometime off the record? I have powerful associates..."

Though only an attaché and lesser member of the diplomatic entourage, Gaius Junius Brutus felt particularly compelled to strike a good bargain with the Egyptians. A young man of twenty five years, and a political protégé, he felt that meeting the Egyptians on mutual terms might be acceptable.
"If I may interject, we merely come here to negotiate Egypt's neutrality. It seems that there abound rumors that ports in the east harbor pirates who have been raiding our trade fleets, Egypt among them. We firstly wish to inquire as to whether there is any truth to that statement, and secondly, if so, if there is anything his majesty could do to alleviate that burden on our trade. Further, we wish to inquire about the possibility of reopening Egyptian ports to Roman merchants, something that we feel can be mutually beneficial."

OOC: Forgot about this
"If what your aide says is true then action will be taken at once. We will not tolerate piracy by any party and thank you for bringing the possibility to our attention, I can assure you that it will be dealt with as soon as possible. However on the matter of trade we remain intractable, we can not be seen to favour any side in you conflict and it is not our way to interfere in the internal concerns of others, furthermore should we support you or the Severans we risk turning our war of retribution against those motherless malignant curs the Numidians into a proxy conflict... I do however have a proposal I am authorised to make. If you can agree not to interfere with our war in against Numidia then we in turn will commit our entire naval force to the eradication of any undeclared ship we see, through capture or sinking."
Gaius Junius Brutus thought for a moment. It was not quite what they had hoped for, but it was useful nonetheless.
"Your terms are agreeable. We will be neutral in your conflict against Numidia. Though, I would recommend that you reconsider our trade proposal. It is only a matter of time until we are victorious, and even then, Egypt is more profitable to Rome as a trade partner rather than an adversary, regardless of who rules it."
"Indeed, I wish you and your kingdom good fortune. Farewell."

"When Rome is united again we will be glad to engage in extensive trade relations, until then however it in our interests to remain outside your conflict. You will be informed of any progress we make in regards to your pirate problem."
With that he departed.
