ooc: everyone from my camp should post here if they wish to remain with Severus and the army.
Severus, his supporters, and his continually swelling army arrive in Spain to find the two pro-consular legions gone as well as the taxes of Spain. Although initially flustered, messengers confirm the legions are still acting under the command of loyal Legates. This camp in Spain is temporary, for soon the legion would be travelling elsewhere. Regardless of this fact, Severus takes some time to organize his assets.
Informants have relayed some issues that demand redress:
Evidently the tribes of Spain have been unnerved by news from Rome involving the breakdown of the political institution.
Evidently the German tribes are once again wreaking havoc in the north
On top of all this the legions must be paid (MM, you'll have to tell me how much)
The most pressing matter at hand is to determine the loyalty of the governor of Gaul and attempt to win them over.
Treasury:

Severus calls a meeting of his supporters, all who followed him from Rome.

Lucius arrives at the camp with his Italian cavalry of eight hundred. He heads for the tent of Severus and enters, saluting him. Then walks off to the side, waiting for the others. Then he looks at Severus.
Any word on where the two pro-consular legions are, Severus?

Scipio sent them north to Gaul, the poor fools. He was not aware we would be following him so closely. I cannot speak to their exact location, but we must not tarry here long without risking the loss of a substantial amount of money. This is money we must have, Lucius. We are at an advantage at this point in time, but the future is dependent upon our continued income.
My agents have sent my annual earning to me, a mere fraction of what they should be, but every bit helps.
Lucius walks out and brings in a chest, setting it down before Severus.
My agents gave me my income as well. A meagre 3,000 denarii...but I shall give it all to the effort, Severus.
The chest contained only 3023 denarii. Lucius then looks outside the tent, noticing the men resting before the next march. Then the Consul looks at Severus.
What is our next move from here, Severus?

Cilo having escaped Capua (Magic confirmed), arrives in Hispania and looks out for the Magnus. Although likely in for a bollocking, he brought with him his income for that year (Magic confirmed) in a chest behind him. Even though the new 'Senate' had taxed it, he had brought 5536 Denarii.

Cilo! How the devil did you escape? You look dreadful, how in the blazes did you get here in time? Taking a midnight trip to Capua, eh? How was the holiday?

Hail, praetor. How do you fare? A battle you say, already? The treasury is secure then? We must head north immediately. This answers one question quite obviously then, the Pro-Consul is against us. We must force him to bow then. I have no qualms about punishing those who stand against us. Surely death will be our reward if captured regardless.

"Our forces encountered with the ones loyal to the ProConsul of Gaul, the legate in command gave them them the chance to surrender what was refused, we had no other chance to but make them retreat by force. Their position is now unknown to me. fortunately the the treasury was kept intact and is now in safety.
Without funds Scipio won't be able to reinforce his casualties, we should pursue him now that we have the chance!"

Praetor Scipio will be best suited for the diplomatic mission. What shall we do about the Aedui and Aquitani? I presume you have a plan for them, Severus.

Can you imagine what they would say if none of this had happened? By the gods, we would be in the poor house! Less than ten thousand for a single year, its a wonder people live.
Our next move will be north.
Severus removed his helmet
We will treat with the Pro-Consul and attempt to bring him to reason. He cannot hope to stand against so might a host as this. This is the finest army Rome has ever seen.
What of the Celtibri and Lusitanians? Word is running around of them being upset with the recent rumbles over our borders. What should we do about them? We cannot expect leave our western flank exposed to those tribes.

We shall send a diplomatic mission immediately. Scipio should be sent, of course, since he has dealt with them in the past. Our goals will be twofold: to ensure Spain will remain calm and possibly to acquire some Spanish auxilaries.
Severus gazed at Scipio.
Are you willing to undertake this for me, Praetor?

Ariovistus shall remember me, he is an honorable man. He knows that he owes his life to me.We may yet use this to our advantage.

The Scipii have been swayed, of course. I suspected nothing less. One day we will be able to leave camps for our own comfortable houses, but for now it must be war. I must say it is some relief to be free of the corruption of the Senate.

Yes, I have not overlooked our allies to the north. I shall be very interested to meet with them again. All of this hinges on our ability to establish contact with them as soon as we are able. Who knows what lies they have been told?

Immediately, we cannot tarry. We shall sacrifice to Mercury for your success!
I have not heard of any lies yet...but I say we speak to them at the utmost haste before our enemy decides to poison their minds. I can stay behind and keep our legions on the move with Cilo here if you wish to go and speak with the Aedui and Aquitani, Severus.
