Select an Item from List

Whenever I boot Total War, BI, or Alexander and choose the campaign, i get a message that says "please select an item from the list". I attempted a reinstall, and even downloaded a different version (Gold instead of all three games separately as I had purchased them) just to check, and I keep encountering the same problem. Does anybody know how to fix this?

I'm Running Windows 7 on a new computer; hardware compatibility is likely not the issue, if that helps.

I've encountered this problem before on M2TW. Turns out I had somehow added some extra letters at the beginning of the descr_strat file. If this was your problem, I would assume a re-install would have fixed it, but you might want to check the descr_strat again anyway.

Thanks! I'll check as soon as I get home. It started happening after I attempted to uninstall one mod and install another, and I assumed it was something to do with this. But when the reinstall of the whole thing didn't work I got a bit worried.
