Can't switch between early and late

Everytime I try to switch from early to late, or late to early i get a crash back to the screen after main menu. I can only change it one time (the first time after new install) Any ideas how to fix this?

I won't be able to resolve your problem, but for those who can, you should :

- Post in the bug reports/technical help forum
- Give at least the version of Stainless Steel you're using

Have you turned UAC off and running SS as administrator (if you have Vista or Win7)?

I am not sure if my UAC is on or off this time around. I have been hit with alot of viruses and trojans, and from what ive read it is safer to have UAC on as opposed to off. Is there a way to disable UAC for the game, or the sega folder. I am really tired of reformating this thing.

I have disc based original, but kingdoms is Direct 2 Drive, is that the same as steam in general?

Probably not the same as Steam. Depends on how D2D installs games.
