Maybe I have the wrong idea but here goes.
I'm currently playing a Roman 0-turn campaign H/H (only force diplomacy as a sub mod). It is my understanding that whenever you lay siege to a capital city, an enemy army is spawned and supposed to attack the besieging army to try and recapture the city.
I have been playing the campaign for a while. I first thought it was strange that the army didn't spawn when i conquered Carthage but then I imagined that it was because I took the city in a single turn by engaging an army and it's garrison and destroying it (yes I know, it's an exploit, but then again it is Carthage and they don't deserve better).
Later I came across the same thing with Sparta (no walls so again, single turn conquest). After the city fell, no garrison showed up.
A little after that, I'm invading the Arverni and laying siege to their capital at Gergovia. I kept one army laying siege to the city and a second army in an ambush nearby, hoping the spawned army would show up somewhere in the area.
2 turns later the war is over with no Gauls to be seen near the capital (which did not fall).
I always make sure the script is running, and in previous games (both Roman and other factions) I've had to fight those spawned armies but now it appears they won't show up anymore.
Is there something I'm missing?
