    Default Magnus the Pious HammerWiki

I really had no idea that the story of Magnus is so boring .

Everything in this article i read was predictable , but something were even more idiotic .

    The Battle speech
"I can see in your eyes that you fear this enemy. I can see in your eyes that you wonder how we can fight such terrible monsters. Men of the Empire, I have the answer: We fight them with our steel, we fight them with our courage, but above all we fight them with our faith in Sigmar!"
Isn't like every speech like these ? And it's certainly to cliche to inspire me .

    The battle " tactics "
With morale restored Magnus planned his attack with High King Alriksson of the dwarves. In a pincer movement Magnus would attack Kul's western flank, whilst the dwarves charged through the horde's southern flank. Once engaged the static horde of Chaos would be broken by the Kislevite army attacking their rear. Having agreed on their strategy, the armies deployed.
If these are the empires best commanders i wonder how are their normal " tactics " .

As Magnus prepared to lead another charge a voice warned him of a 'beast in human form' approaching, the enemy leader, Asavar Kul. The Everchosen challenged the champion of Sigmar to single combat, as a test of might between their respective Gods. After an awesome conflict Magnus eventually triumphed, disarming Kul and knocking him to the ground. After removing his helmet Asavar admitted defeat, saying he had failed the Chaos gods and the fight belonged to Magnus. Having slain Asavar, Magnus touched his golden hammer and reflected: "It was your gods who failed you. My god is always with me."
And then the chaos dude has an humiliating defeat

I hope this is all because of Wiki that in the real books it has much more detail and originality .

Well, tbh I find a lot of the warhammer universe (both fantasy and 40k) is incredibly cliche in the way it's done. That said tho I find that way over the top cliche nature of warhammer is actually a large part of it's charm for me.

Whereas apart from the basics, i don't know all that much about magnus the pious but yea, the warhammer wiki is a rule much less detailed and accurate as the books (good thing too, otherwise nobody'd bother to buy the books hehe)

I noticed that the coolest " bad guys " of warhammer Malekith and Chaos lords get often pwnd by some High Elven sissies and Mad fanatics .

Well most of these writers are hardly experts on military matters.

And to be honest, since the Warhammer world is not based on our planet or in our world (or our timeline) there is the possibility that these things (such as military tactics) have not been evolved at all in the Warhammer world (much like in Lotr the military is not very developed).

In the original stroy there was no strategy, the dwarves were almost all dead, the city was burning, Magnus was kinda desperately committing suicide,a holy martyrdom to inspire the divided empire, this act pleased Sigmar. Kul on the other hand thought he could defeat this avatar of Sigmar on his own, his gods didn't help him.....in fact he nearly did beat Sigmar, almost.

The old story is in a white-dwarf, the one where archaon is shown for the first time. I need to read that awesome story again.
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are so certain of themselves, but wiser people are full of doubts.

In True monty Python way normal tactics will be make a breach through gobo minefield with your commoner's bodies while goose stepping and a hankerchief on head as anti mine protection.

Given the size of forces involved at Kislev, I'd say it's a good thing to keep your plan simple and let the lower-level commanders do the details. Trying to centrally micromanage armies of that size with the means of communication avaiable to the Empire would be folly.

As it was, the plan at Kislev was sound for the task at hand: Relieving the city from a siege force that outnumbered Magnus coalition. A direct full-front slugfest would have not met with success, so a multi-pronged attack was chosen to play to the one advantage the imperial and dwarven armies had over the chaos horde: Discipline and coordination.

Empire at War goes into some more detail on the battle, though the book is by now out of print.

What fantasy world is not cliched? There are a few but everything mainstream tends to be cliched. People like familiarity. Try playing with one of the weirder game fantasy worlds and it can be annoying to figure out every single type of unit if its not based partly on Tolkien and other later writers that simply added new character types into known world.

Warhammer is over the top in a nearly anime way but that is why its fun. It doesn't take itself quite as seriously as LotR though with the success of Warhammer MMO it might soon start to take itself too seriously although the latest editions where a bunch of things are changed around seem to indicate its not going that way yet.
