Need help fighting against spartans!!!

I've been losing for ages cause of these stupid,nooby,overpowered spartans.I would need some tips/advice for how to kill these darn spartans.Plus I'm really losing will to play this game cause it's extremely unbalanced and stuff like that (spam armies, almost everyone uses urban cohorts when playing as rome, units rout fast).If someone would tell me the "secret" how to kill these spartans then i would be happy

the entire game works like this in my opinion.
Pikes=Cav
Archers>Infantry
Cav>Everything else but chariots
Chariots>Cav
Pikes>Chariots

For a good cav faction that is.

ok i have found the way how to fight against these spartans.First shoot in the rear or back with archers and make maximum casualties.Second charge with your heaviest infantry (i did with silver shield pikemen) then i charged in with my cavs when the spartans were shaken.And they were gone

when you say you charged with silver shield pikemen are you saying you ran them in out of phalanx? how else can you `charge ` with phalanx troops

There are plenty of ways to beat Spartans. Spartans suck (even though they kill charging cavalry even with their asses).

use missile troops. Play between 10-20k for less spam. Play CWB rules.

Drill to learn how vulnerable the spartans are.

Make your own battle, 2 units of archers with a gold weapon upgrade vs one unit of Spartans.

Archers will win every time. Compare the cost.

But yeah, Spartans don't need anything special really. Unless they're g/g(in which case you outgun him in every other department), urbans can go toe to toe with them without too much difficulty, and urbans cost less as well. The previous suggestion of archers is a good one as well, because you can kill quite a few shooting them in the back, because much of their defense against arrows is in their shield, so they are about as exposed as 2 hp town watch from the back.
