D'oh! Are the Simpsons in danger of cancellation?

Personally, I hope so. This show has gone on far to long and isn't even a shadow of what it once was.

The cuts they're being asked to take -- about 45 percent -- would drop their salaries to slightly more than $4 million for about 22 weeks of work each season.

Sounds like a dream job to me!

Please don't cancel the Simpsons to make room for another piece of garbage from Seth MacFarlane. The Simpsons might not be what it once was but it's still the best show on Fox's animated lineup.

This IMO, I can't stand The Cleveland Show and American Dad isn't that good either.

The Cleveland Show is rather meh, but American Dad is genius. I love it. Family Guy and American Dad are basically my fav animations right after South Park, though at this point I think I prefer American Dad slightly out of all three.

The Simpsons is just... boring to me. The same with Futurama. The humor is too mild, the opportunities for being truly witty or truly hilarious are rarely seized, jokes are predictable, so meh. I'm not a fan. Unpredictability is part of what makes humor good to me.

i could never understand how family guy, or any of the others which were exactly the same thing...were even funny. like at all..

Id rather have the simpsons stay on the air than yet another peice of crap like that.

I can't stand any American animation save South Park, to be honest. The Simpsons have always been crap to me.

That would indeed be sad to see it be cancelled. The Simpsons have been a staple of modern popular culture since 1989. Still, I have trouble believing, right now anyway, that it'll be going anywhere. It still has a huge fanbase across the globe, and Fox is all too aware of what kind of reaction they'd get if it were cancelled. Besides, I have a hard time imagining that another TV station wouldn't quickly strike a deal with Groening and co and pick it up.

I don't know much about Fox's cartoons but American Dad is good. Better than Futurama and Family Guy at least.

And cancelling the Simpsons would be a bad thing. First went the Friends and now this? Nowadays they make so much pure , and the local shows here aren't even worth buying a tv..

Wait? American Dad and Family Guy are different shows?
I thought they'd just changed the appearances of the characters.

And Futurama is far superior to any McFarlane show.

These and all the Cleveland shows are utterly dumb and I don't see how the Simpsons are better.

Well yeah, American Dad is about CIA, but few characters are same. cartoon violence ftw.

Simpsons were naturally much funnier before, but since the Shite McShitelane shows came out, it's like the Simpsons tried to copy a part of that type of humor, which is something that didn't work too well. Hopefully Simpsons doesn't get cancelled, it is indeed the best animated show Fox has.

If I want to watch family guy type humour I will watch one of seth show's (I do prefer American Dad to the others. Cleveland is just poor).

This is one of the reasons the new episodes of the Simpsons are so awful compared to the old ones.

I just don't find them funny or entertaining. If the new opening sequence starts up I usually just change the channel.

Simpsons needs to die, because what the producers are doing to it right now is simple torture of both the series and the fan-base, a mercy killing that's what needs to be done.

I'd rather watch that tortured puppy than the unfunny snarling beast that is Family Guy, and the rest of Mcfarlane's crap.

It must suffer for the greater good.

The Simpsons and Futurama are the best animated shows I have watched. Sure the Simpsons are not as good as they used to be, but I still like the show.

The Simpsons jumped the shark a long time ago.

Even if Fox cancelled it, there are numerous other networks (Comedy Central for one) who are likely to pick it up. Still the whole actors salary issue was always likely to be the thing that brought the show down. They are always disputing it.

A lot of people are saying that replacement voices can be found...While true, the current voice actors can portray multiple voices. How many voice actors could mimic ALL of the characters that each voice actor does on that show currently?
