In contrast to the efforts of tiny Israel to make contributions to the world so as to better mankind, one has to ask what have those who have strived to eliminate Israel from the face of the earth done other than to create hate and bloodshed.

This would lead me to tentatively propose that there is a general aesthetic trend in Israeli politics..

    Actually, politics in general.

    What's your point?

As long as he executes a quick pull-out out of parts of the West Bank and succeds in keeping Hamas in line he'll do quite nicely. What worries me is that he ain't got the military background of Sharon and he might not have the guts to take the shait when it hits the fan. We shall see...

    Thanks, OriginOfSymetry...

Israel is still EXAPANDING into the West Bank.

You mean the incident where they fired a rocket at a Palestinian home, killing an 8 year old girl?

Now Hamas won the election, but so what? They're toothless now, all they can do is sit in their ramshackle govt compounds and blubber about how nobody wants to give them money.
    Here I agree.
Hamas winning the elections was the best thing to reduce terrorism.
Maybe the EU can even convince Hamas to fight AGAINST the terrorists, but sadly our good-for-nothing politicians have a thing against "negotiating with terrorists", so they can't say "stop all terrorism and we wil send you money again".

Didn't Hitler say that about the Jews too?

Israel won't see peace until they create a situation where the average Palestinian can make a normal living for themselves.
Israel keeps destroying the Palestinian economy and makes Palestinians scared to loose their homes to the bulldozers and their lovedones to the random "retaliation strikes", so they leave then no other option then becomming terrorists.
Hopefully this new PM wil do things different, but I doubt it.

what does it got to do with what i said?

8 year old girl and about 18 other terrorists (not in the same incident ofcourse, but throghout the bombings
im sorry for the girl, but you should more accurate.
and to be fair- another innocent 16 years boy was killed, and also a small kid was killed when he was in a car with his father and 3 other terrorists, or something like that

thats funny, because i dont see peace until hamas will drop from his far-right stance and will be ready to make some compromises.
and i want to see your country not retaliating after being bombed daily (by lets say... belguim )

and just for you to know- olmert has a plan to evacuate all illigal (by istraeli law, not international) and isolated settlements out of the west bank

I read somewhere that he intends to address the issue of possessed territories, though I may be incorrect. That should relieve a lot of pressure, should action actually be taken.

There is peace, Israel beat the palestinians with their security fence and the dismantaling of the serious terrorist organisations through intelligence victory. There's been no suicide bombings for a long time, not cuz they don't want to do it, but cuz they can't, Israel is invincible. A few weeks ago some idiots tried to fire their homeade rocket into Gaza, an Israeli hellfire missile blew their stupid asses off before they got a half a kilometre away. Now Hamas won the election, but so what? They're toothless now, all they can do is sit in their ramshackle govt compounds and blubber about how nobody wants to give them money. Again, where is the threat to Israel now? Asides from potential Iranian ballistic missiles (for which Israel is at the forefront of missile defence technology dveelopment to counter them), nobody can touch Israel.
