Default Assad: Syria will shower Tel Aviv with rockets if attacked by foreign powers.

    http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomac...owers-1.388135

Syria will strike Israel and "set fire" to the Middle East if foreign forces choose to launch a military strike on the protest-ridden country, the Iranian news agency Fars quoted Syrian President Bashar Assad as saying on Tuesday, referring to remarks made by the Syrian leader during a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu last August.

During a meeting with the Turkish FM, the Fars report claimed, Assad indicated that Syria would not hesitate to strike major Israeli cities if it was attacked."If a crazy measure is taken against Damascus, I will need not more than 6 hours to transfer hundreds of rockets and missiles to the Golan Heights to fire them at Tel Aviv," Assad said.

In addition, Fars reported that the Syrian president told the Turkish FM that he would also call on Hezbollah in Lebanon to launch a rocket attack on Israel, adding: "All these events will happen in three hours, but in the second three hours, Iran will attack the U.S. warships in the Persian Gulf and the U.S. and European interests will be targeted simultaneously."

Assad's comments to the Turkish FM came after Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said earlier Tuesday he would set out his country's plans for sanctions against Syria after he visits a Syrian refugee camp near the border in the coming days.

The move heralds a further deterioration in previously friendly relations between Ankara and Damascus since the start of Assad's crackdown on protesters.

"Regarding sanctions, we will make an assessment and announce our road map after the visit to Hatay in southern Turkey, setting out the steps," Erdogan told reporters, adding he expected to visit the region at the weekend or the start of next week.

Some 7,000 Syrians have taken refuge in camps established in Hatay, in flight from President Assad's security forces.
Not every day that you have somebody so blunt about their plans, even in today's world.

    Everyone read that article again.

Basically it means Syria would counter-attack if someone attacks it, which I don't see anything wrong about that. Of course, if the attackers use Israel as a base to strike Syria Syrian government has 100% justification to shell Tel Aviv.

Looks like China and Russia vetoed the UN Resolution. I should have known. It never appears to be in China or Russia's interest to support the pursuit of justice in the world.

hopefully, eventually neither Russia nor China will have any relations with Arabs. Politically, economically and culturally.

Or Assad, look at Assad. Same thing.

Saudi Arabia and Bahrain are totally free, democratic, non-oppressive and just societies and that is why they are supported by the democratic nations of the world?

Let us be honest, there is no justice nor has there ever been in international politics, if a powerful country wants something they take it, small and insignificant countries can either bend over and apply lubricants or take it dry. They will take it either way.

Let us not pretend that any powerful country (US and Russia especially) give a rats arse about democracy or whether Assad kills thousands or millions of people as long as their interests are protected.

Might makes right, it has always been like that and it will always be.

Who's he trying to threaten? Turkey, which isn't on good terms with Israel at the moment? Israel, who would surely return fire? The US? It seems like Assad has a death wish. It's especially puzzling that he talks about hitting Tel Aviv specifically, and not just the country which attacks him. It's almost as if he's trying to ignore the possibility of Turkish intervention. He couldn't play the Jewish or Western card in that case.

Hellheaven, so far as I'm aware of the only country contemplating direct intervention is Turkey, which would not want to, or need to use Israel to launch an attack from.

And Iran isn't going to risk war with the US over Syria. After all, their plan for building carriers is going to look a lot worse if they lose the rest of their navy fighting to defend an unpopular Syrian dictator.

We thought US would not jump on Libya but then we all give a wrong guess...

After Iraq and Libya US is officially a mad dog on my list - we would never sure what US government would do next time.

Big words for a man who's regime is killing innocent people. Of course though, nothing will happen. Assad's regime will continue to kill innocent people. Turkey is really the only country that can do anything about it.

If the scenario played out like that, you would have Israeli tanks in Damascus and give the Americans the excuse they've been waiting for to try out their new bunker buster bombs on the Iranian nuclear facilities.

I call their bluff. Another statement that should merit invasion just for the sheer arrogance. Syria is just scared cause they know they have another Egypt on their hands, and they think by threatening violence they'll get anywhere. But I'm sorry, they're just giving more of a reason for intervention. Any state willing to "shower" a place with rockets because they don't want foreign powers to intervene with their massacre of civilians are a threat in the first place, and requires intervention.

I say take affirmative action. Syria is too unstable to be considered safe for the world. I say we go in there and secure it.
