I'll send my orders as soon as the senate decides to reject my proposal, which I actually thought was quite reasonable. Some of them may also want to flee the city. It won't be a siege since the people support me. It would be rather bad precedent to allow Rome to come under siege anyway and is rather ahistorical.

I will be rather adamant about the Senate not being able to just waste four days and effectively triple the amount of troops I'll have to ace by raising a bunch of legions and moving men back, so I will more or less request that until the first battle is resolved we consider this particular moment and place frozen in time.

No problem, to be honest I'm more worried about the Stig suddenly having Jugurtha pile on top of us. Which would be spectacular, but... complicated.

Technically Jugurtha could take one day, construct some boats, and attack Spain, Sicily or hell, even Sardinia, which is unguarded. If the provinces to seem devoid of men we'll have to leave it up to chance to see if the neighboring states decide to take advantage of that and attack us in either Greece, Sicily, Gaul or Spain.

all the forces in Italy at least will be utterly destroyed before anything else will be sent to offer any sort of resistance. I have three tri-star or better legions....part of me wants to be dictator but the other wants everything to be settled to go kick Jugurtha's ass with like 8 legions. That's what we have in the region right now.

Okay, legions move at the roughly the same speed. If XVI starts farther south (inside Rome) than the Severian legions (moving into Rome from the north), then marches double time south towards Sicily, you can't realistically intercept them unless you've got a couple thousand horses hiding somewhere.

The XVI Aquilae fell back to Messana when Severus occupied Rome.

If we want to read that critically I could argue your troops went to Ostia to be transported and then couldn't be, putting them a few miles from Rome. You made no mention of moving south. If you want my advice admit check mate and switch sides, happened plenty of times in civil wars
