Icon5 Man of the Hour inconsistency

    Hello,

I was playing vanilla MTW2 yesterday when somthing started to annoy me. In the HRE campaign, I sent a small army to kill one unit of rebel peasents.

Obviously, I won and after the battle the 'Man of the Hour' message appered for my victorious captain. I accepted.

However, later in the same turn I somehow defended Jerusalem against a full stack of Egyptians with only some Mailed Knights, Spear millitia (x3) and some archers (x2). I was thrilled with the victory and I half-expected to get the 'Man of the Hour' message. However, I didn't.

Is it random or something? Beating 1 unit of peasents gets the message but a Heroic Defence does not?

TL;DR: Is the man of the hour message random or acctually calculated?

well, like most things, it has a random factor but also circumstances that allow it to happen in the first place. it has been rumored that you need a heroic victory to get the man of the hour event, yet my personal experience says otherwise, even great victories(aka easy ones, not heroic) can yield the man of the hour event, and some heroic victories with captains don't. I think it has something to do with the total units(as in individuals, not groups, so 75 spear militias count as 70 not 1, etc) of your army being lower than that of the AI's, but other than that it's random.

it's not entirely random. Initially you had way more provinces that family members, so the game tries to compensate by giving you adoption offers and man of the hour events after victories.

For your info, I believe it is actually not possible to get a "Man Of The Hour" when defending/assaulting during sieges, I have never seen it happen

You need to have space in family tree. Example: If your all grown generals all have four kids (or four adopted members), no "Man of Hounor"

That's correct. But my last reply still stands.

you had too few FMs at the moment of the battle vs the rebels, that's why you got the option to adopt that captain, but at the moment of the battle for Jerusalem you already had enough FMs compared to the number of settlements you controled

    That would explain that then.

If all your family members already have four children but your kingdom still needs more, one of the adult children will start to adopt.

I'm talking about situation where all children are children, and all adults have four children. The situation where there's no suitable adopter with less than four children.

Of course when child became adult he will got adoption until he got four children.

No it isn't correct because I had the "Man Of The Hour" event triggered a few times when I assault a settlement during a siege, but never encounter a "Man Of The Hour" event when defending a siege.
