Apologies if this should be elsewhere.... very quick registration during a very short lunch break!
I loaded RTW on a laptop with Windows Vista or 7 (forget which - the other half's computer!) and started a campaign fine.
I saved it and when I go to load it (title screen loads just fine), it gives the load screen for a split second, then it goes back to windows and I get the 'windows is trying to find a solution to why this program stopped working'.
It happens whether I try and load my manual saved game, the autosave from about 5 mins before I had saved my game, or using 'continue campaign'.
I have very vague recollections of problems on my dad's computer a few years back but that may have been Medieval Total War.....
Can anyone help me!!?? I haven't 'modded' anything, cheated or played around with anything, I'm not that advanced(!) - it is a standard install from the 3 discs.

Re: Loading issues
Sounds like basic corruption to me. I'd reinstall and if that didn't work I'd re-buy RTW.
But I dunno, maybe someone else has more an answer for you.

Re: Loading issues
RTW is known to have corruption problems with quick saves and autosaves and they seem to carry over to your regular saves.
Can you start a new camapign?

Re: Loading issues
Apparently there is a bug with the routine that is used to create an autosave. What happens then is that the save file is corrupted and cannot be used. The same routine is used for Qucksaves as Autosaves.
Basically, the best thing to do is go into your preferences.txt file in the preferences folder and turn off autosaves.
Remember to manually save every now and then as you play so you have a previous save to go back to. Name them in such a way as to make sense - faction, year & season (Julii_50BC_S or Julii_50BC_W).
