You better get some allies fast, there's a crusade on Cairo - that or take more lands so you can hold them off (historically the mamluks were massive)

Yeah, I was counting on the quite big localized manpower to win. Whereas the crusaders needed men from overseas.

The Sultan looks at the letter, and throws it into a fire. Are the Crusaders really that stupid?

He is welcomed into the palace. The sultan speaks to him.

Hello, brother. Why do you seek audience with me?

The emissary bows and speaks "I come here to your noble realm to propose a Trade Agreement as well as a friendly cooperation pact when possible, as a full allaince may be tough to maintain due to the vast distance between us.

A single messenger makes his way to the Mamluk camp and requests to speak with someone of authority.
"I, Pinkie Pie, declare that these treats are fit for a king, or a queen, or a princess!"
"Me? Ruin? I'm not the ruiner, I'm the ruinee! Or is it ruinness? Ruinette?"
"She's ahead of the litter all right. The pick of the litter. The cat's pajamas. Oh wait. Why would Applejack take some poor kitty's pj's? That's not very sporting of her."
"More balloons! No, that's too many balloons. More candy! No, less candy. Ooh! I know! Streamers!"
"Oh my gosh. Hold on to your hooves – I am just about to be brilliant!"

We could always use more iron, this is a deal then?

The messenger looks up at the sultan who had just routed a combined crusader/roman army mere hours ago.

"The emperor Alexius I Comnenus wishes to begin negotiations concerning a peace settlement between our two people."

    The Sultan smiles

I will gladly negotiate peace between us. I believe one of the conditions should be that you must not support or give troops to the crusades or the Crusader States, if you break this we will declare war on you again.

"The crusaders refused to let the emperor help him plan his battles. Anyone who ignores the advice of someone who has fought armies like yours for more than 1,000 years is not worthy of our assistance. We would also like to open up trade between our two people to help pay for the wrong done to you."

This sounds feasible. What do you offer?
