Are peasant garrisons bad for BI
How does the garrison bonus work in BI?
Playing BI right now and full stacks of peasants don't seem to be able to keep control of a city. But when I replace those full stacks of peasants with troops, the city comes under control.
So am I right in assuming that garrison bonus is based off the total amount of upkeep of troops in a city instead of the total number of soldiers in a city(like in vanilla).

No. Peasants just have their value halved in BI. Otherwise, it is identical to RTW.

I never knew that, interesting. I just usually edit my game so that peasants cant be recruited. Otherwise I find that the AI uses them to much on the battlefield.Originally Posted by ccgr1121

It's an attempt to stop the peasant spams in rtw to keep population under control. TBH, I've always found liminati / levy spearmen to be fine in BI

I use limitanei. I pretty well switched the mens job. Comitt are used by me for border troops, with Limitanea as city garrison
