    Default Hey Everybody

    Hey Everbody

I thought I post this publicly rather then to reply to Rex only as this touches as well my recent inactivity.

    hey Rex...
I know this was left in an unfinished condition. Since a few months real life needs all my attention. I simply have to much issues going on right now...my family needs a lot of attention, problems with the company ....and then I have to find the nervs and concentration for my studys (trying to make an international degree in c++) and so on and so on...and after then one has to meet up with friends too every once in a while .
I have RSII not installed right now as my HD died about 10 weeks ago and it took everything with it. I lost all my researched stuff, scripts and files I had prepared for an update of FGE and the normal Roman 1Turn Campaign including:

    • a very nice and challenging late game war against Parthia to level out the steamroller effect in 1Turn Rome Campaign once the empire gets big (after civil war)
    • a revised dynamic money script based on expansion for better/tighter economy,
    • prepared files to make the Roman Rebels a real Rebel Faction without family tree (happy General scripting for the Rebels) thus avoiding the rebel family to die out like it happend in so many Rome Campaigns leading to a Zombie Civil War against non moving stacks without campaign ai...Tests I made with all 3 exe where successful and only required minor changes to the initial Roman Campaign settings
    • dynamic Civil War money support script avoiding the player to go into the millions negative within just a few turns, providing the player with just enough to retrain troops sometimes hence creating a more immersive civil war scenario as now the player can take on the war even if the odds are very bad and he lost majority of provinces. At the same time the Civil War would have become more challenging due to high star rebel general scripting and upgraded rebel troops (more chevrons)
    • preparations to implement loyalty for roman generals

    • the Parthian Mission stuff and all the test scripts I still needed to test...

errrr...all gone...I still get angry when thinking about it. Thing is the HD was not even 1 year old and I already had another portable 1TB HD in place to make a backup but since the HD was pretty new It was not very high on my priority list...well..I should have known better ...

So,unluckily Iam not in the position right now to do any modding work ( I had 2 other projects going on for other games which I had to cancel for the moment) let alone finishing unfinished stuff even though I would like to but I have to limit myself to answer a few questions in the FGE threads sometimes but if I can be of help to better understand game mechanics Iam happy to share all knowledge, especially the FGE campaign gave me some new conclusions and hints about AI behaviour and why in FGE factions act in a more agressive way, wherever this is of value to the team or not..I dont know

    Best Regards to all
    Chris

Wow that's frustrating. Any chance of getting the data recovered from the disc? Most things can be recovered.
I think the team would certainly value your knowledge

errr...yeah,sure...its just....a good friend of mine has a PC shop and he changed the HD and reinstalled the OP for me. He managed to salvage a truckload of data from the HD. It was a 1,5 TB HD which consists of 3 internal discs and the one with the RTW and other stuff was the one whose partitions couldnt be read anymore (not even with the linux browser) but as I got my 30.000+ marvel/dc e-comic collection out of the thingi I was sort of relieved (this would have been a real loss) and when he told me that the rest only can be recovered by specialists spending a couple of hundred € I told him to throw the crap away....

With time and a bit of dedication I could just reproduce my work but at the moment I dont have the time nor the patience.

I only can recommend to anybody...HANDS OFF from big HDs...they are very likely to fail cause they consist of several internal discs and if only one fails the OP does not load anymore.
Statistically the 500GB literally never fail while 1TB is relative reliable but everything above 1 TB has a high probability to fail even though the industry claims otherwise.

yeah..well..thats life...in a perfect world each RSII campaign would be 1turn and would have its own localized money script, garrison script and faction specific amended prices and bonuses in a modfoldered EDB to assure a challenge and not only winning by stack spam but fighting for economics/infrastructure too ...but that would be a hell of a job

very kind of you...FGE is over 2000 downloads by now and there was a fair amount of people who lost their campaign straight away which is not very common thing for RTW and there where also lots of people coming from 0 turn and they got their butt handed to them too which prooves that RTW does not have to be 0 turn to be a challenge...its the mix of tighter economics,a more ressourceful ai with a bit more manpower, the leveling out of the steamroll with the garrison script and better troops for the ai to improve the odds against immortal silver and gold chevron player units constantly raising experience and the need for active planning cause its impossible to raise one army after another instantly...this mix of strategy, planning and more resistance from the AI makes this sort of campaign an overall more rewarding experience. Just IMHO of course

Rex..the money script is in the FGE background script..
for the 1turn roman campaign it can be taken 1:1 by copypaste and for the 0turn roman campaign amounts would have to be raised a little to link up with the higher income.
Its probably the most dynamic way to influence income in RTW: Thru expansion..the bigger the more loss...

The dynamic money script really sounded interesting, too.

And hey, even if we had some differences via PM, you really have to update FGE for 2.2. I mean, that was the only challenging campaign experience I had in all my numberless RTW games...what to play instead?

If you were able to share/explain a bit more about these, I could probably cope with some coding:

• preparations to implement loyalty for roman generals

      • the Parthian Mission stuff and all the test scripts I still needed to test...

Can you explain this as well in more detail please? I wasn't aware there was an issue:

a real Rebel Faction without family tree (happy General scripting for the Rebels) thus avoiding the rebel family to die out like it happend in so many Rome Campaigns leading to a Zombie Civil War against non moving stacks without campaign ai
