    Default Roman provincial governor system?

I was looking through the character traits file, and noticed a bunch of stuff about rectores, propraetores, and proconsules. Is this left over from an older version of EB, or is it still active? I've never seen a character get any such traits, and it looks like the triggers look at the Electability attribute, which probably isn't used any longer . . .

    Does anybody know?

It's well alive... In my current SPQR campaign (now in 200 BC and ending the 2nd Punic War with the soon-to-be conquests of Gader, Bocchoris and a raiding expedition in Africa), the provincial governor of Sicilia, who got the ancillary as it should be, i.e. after I conquered Syrakousai some years ago, is also Rector Provinciae; and the governor of Hispania Citerior is also a Propraetor. Nevertheless, this last guy will very probably lose the trait, because I will transfer the ancillary of the province to another who will arrive from Italy - the current governor will take the boat and return to Rome, as he has just been named Primus inter Pares.

AFAIK, the electability is still well in use, indeed. In EB, it's related with the background of each character (if he's a patrician or a plebeian), which will affect the probability of having senatorial offices (traits), which, in turn, affect other things. So, it's pretty much in the game

Hm. I have all of Sicilia conquered, and am working on Africa. None of my three governors on the island have any sort of title or ancillary related to provinces, though. Of course, they're all youngsters and haven't had many offices yet--I suppose that's the reason why I have yet to see it? I should try to send a consular to Syracusae, but they're running the larger Italian cities for me.

Yes, that should be it. Don't have acces to export_descr_ancillaries right now, but IIRC there was something related to influence and/or the "electability" thing, in order to get the ancillary.
Plus, of course, the regions that compose the province, Sicily in this case, have to have at least a government of type 3, all of them - but I think you have that, as you have family members in all three. One thing that I do is to send the youngsters to Rome, once they appear, for just a couple of years. This is for roleplaying purposes (Rome starts with a school and I don't like to build everything at once in the provinces, so they get their education there, at least in the first decades-first century), and it's useful, in the 2-3 years spent at the capital they usually get nice ancillaries and traits, which also boost their influence, and electability, even for plebeians.
The other way, of course, is to win battles.

After playing for a considerable while more, I have to confirm that I definitely am not seeing any provincial titles--no ancillaries upon conquering things, and no rectores, much less propraetores or proconsules. Sicilia has all Type 2 governments now, and the FMs are in their 30s with near maxed out influence and management... and not a title among them.

edit: ok, looks like something's broken with the ancillaries not being assigned. If I add the ancillary to a governor via the console, the traits trigger properly. Not sure what would be breaking it though--I certainly see satrapal titles and such all the time. As far as I can tell from reading the ancillary triggers, it SHOULD work fine. Something's breaking it, and I can't fathom what.

There are submods that "fix" that, or at least, they show up in said submods.
One of them is Atraphoenix's Extended Office mod.

Actually, that's the strangest part--I *do* have the EOM installed and was wondering if the mod was what broke it. Or, potentially, is it possible that renaming settlements in-game can break it? I was under the assumption that the ancillaries file used internal names. I tried naming the cities back, but to no avail.

I do know that the satrap ancillaries for the Seleucids and Parthians work just fine, as do their offices. So something, somewhere, is making the Roman ones not work.

Whatever you do never rename settlements as it meeses up the script.

Well, fudge. I guess that's probably my problem right there, then. 160 turns, down the drain...

Well.... okay, time to start a new game then. Darnit all. Question. If I change the display name in imperial_campaign_regionsetc.txt in the text folder instead of changing the name in-game, will it still mess up the script?
