Default Best guide to Plato's Republic?

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could suggest which book would make for the best guide to Plato's Republic. I'm looking for an undergraduate-level text ideally, but nothing insultingly simple; I am familiar with the basics of most of the strands of philosophy and the themes of Plato.

    Thanks very much in advance.

    This is the best one:

Julia Annas' is more accessible, but leaves quite a bit to be desired. White's is Ross and Guyer-quality stuff.

The best guide to Plato's Republic is Plato's Republic....

"If ye love wealth greater than liberty,
the tranquility of servitude greater than
the animating contest for freedom, go
home from us in peace. We seek not
your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch
down and lick the hand that feeds you,
and may posterity forget that ye were
    our countrymen."

Agreed. The material is accessible even to the uninitiated. The problem with commentators is they tend to confirmation bias (ex: Bertrand Russell). Read the source material. Then, if there is a part or passage you don't understand, read it again.

Now, Hegel on the other hand...
To be governed is to be watched, inspected, directed, numbered, regulated, enrolled, indoctrinated, controlled, checked, estimated, valued, censured, and commanded, by creatures who have neither the right, wisdom, nor virtue to do so. To be governed is to be at every operation, at every transaction noted, registered, taxed, measured, numbered, assessed, licensed, admonished, reformed, corrected, and punished. It is, under pretext of public utility, and in the name of the general interest, to be placed under contribution, drilled, fleeced, exploited, monopolized, extorted, and robbed; then, at the slightest resistance, to be repressed, fined, vilified, harassed, abused, disarmed, choked, imprisoned, judged, condemned, shot, deported, sacrificed, sold, and betrayed; and to crown all, mocked, ridiculed, derided, outraged, and dishonored. -Pierre-Joseph Proudhon
