The Asterix and Obelix moviesAsterix and Obelix is genius...
I also saw a movie some time ago, The Fall of the Roman Empire (1964) and it starred the dude playing Ben Kenobi in Star Wars: a New Hope as Emperor Marcus Aurelius. Badass emperor! Old films such as this one tend to be long-winded though.
Edit: You could also watch some good series like HBO Rome, or I, Claudius.

thanks, are there any movies about ceasar that is not the HBO rome? or hannibal?
Etiher some Epic movies like Alexander, Cleopatra, Fall of the Roman Empire, Ben Hur or Gladiator.
And some others like the Attila-miniseries or Agora. Aside from them I cannot think about much movies. Seems not a very popular era for movies.
But there are also some very good documentaries. Just search at youtube.
p.s. and yes, the Asterix and Obelix movies are genius.
Atleast the second and the third (about Cleopatra and the Olympic Games). The first was only average.
I saw a good movie on netflix the a while ago; it was calles centurion. It is a survival story set in the timeframe of the empire in germania right after tuetoburg forest (spelling?). Pretty good story.
Quo Vadis and Ben Hur are the best.
Gladiator (my favourite movie of all time)
The Eagle
Centurion
Agora
Spartacus (2004)
Druids a.k.a. Vercengetorix a.k.a. The Gaul
The Last Legion
Hannibal: Rome's worst nightmare

"With the blood we shed all over the Macedonian fields and forests, we serve freedom, as the Macedonian army of Alexander of Macedon did, with our slogan “Freedom or Death!"" - From the Constitution of the Macedonian Kresna Uprising, 1878
King Arthur
For a somewhat late roman empire mood.
Empire.
Not quite historical, but very good entertainment.

Here is a Wikipedia list, not sure how accurate it is, but it should give you a good starting point.
I recently watched a movie called "Caesar." It was made in 2002 and I have to admit, it was pretty good, apart from the few historical inaccuracies. I liked this movie because Caesar is probably one of my favorite Roman leader.

Julius Caesar (1953)

costumes and armour aren't that good, but it has great actors.
