    Default Adding Grape Shot

    Hi there!

    I've been using the Retrofit mod, and I was trying to add Grape Shot as an ability to the Serpentine cannon. I copied the Grape Shot entry from the Culverin, but when I tried a custom battle the Serpentine did not have any special abilities once the battle started. Here is my modded Serpentine entry from EDU, any chance someone could tell me where I went wrong?

    As you can see, I have also modded the unit so it is available to England, and it is one of several units that I have given the ability to deploy stakes.

    Grape shot is exclusive to the bombard and the grand bombard. IIRC it was introduced in the Vanilla Crusades campaign.

    Well I definitely took the entry from something other than one of those two, so perhaps Retrofit mod added the ability to more units. I just don't get why the ability never even showed up when I gave it to the Serpentine.

    ? Does the culverin have Grapeshot? I've only ever seen it with the Bombard & grand bombard, and then only in vanilla crusades, DLV and SS.
    I don't have a pertinent EDU on hand, nor teh descr_projectiles (missiles?) file. Try looking in the Crusades files for the bombard.

    Click on Gigantus' sig for his tutorials. He has one for adding grape shot.

    Well, I tried using the fixed files, but it just caused a CTD at the splash screen. I don't think I'm going to bother trying to fix it though. I tried one of the units that does get grape shot, and the fact that they crew has to load before they can fire makes it useless. The range is so short that by the time they're ready to fire the enemy is already charging into melee!

    Which is precisely why I always try to flank/countercharge a charging enemy and tie them down in melee while the bombard cuts through their ranks.
    Nothing is more satisfying than watching a fiery bombard shot carve a bloody swathe through enemy knights as they try to fight off my spearmen.
