Well... Win7 is not any worse for playing on, I use it no problem, plenty of others do too, but it IS quite different from XP. So where and how did you install it? UAC off? Graphics settings etc?

I am playing on windows 7 too...and no crash at all.
There can be more things to set it up properly.
I've done following....
- UAC is on and i have no problem with that,
- I installed it on different drive not where is the windows system,
- set up application compatibility to(run this program as Win XP,service pack 3)
- also I am not playing at very high setting although i have powerful system to handle this game easily.
I am sure there can be more things about setting up game, but i have done only this, and game running like a charm.. now i am only changing script and making game according to my imagination.
- money problem
- and i don't need second rebellion
I play on Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit and I get no CTD's. Running it in XP compatibility mode can help.
BUT since your saying that after 3 or 5 CTD's the game crashes then it sounds like your video card is giving out to HEAT. Try taking the panel off your computer and let more air into the video card. After that if it goes beyond 3 to 5 battles then you know it was the heat.
If it still crashes then there is a more deeper issue

Or the dust in the case is bad enough that taking off the cover does not help. A spring clean of the internals with either compressed air (make sure you do that while the PC is 'cold' - that is not used for that day) or a photographer's blower brush (I prefer the brush as there is no chance that the air will be colled enough to turn into liquid - which can happen with compressed air cans).
