gamespot......lags like hell..and generally just blows

Anyone else having problems viewing Gamespot?

I get a lot of "no page found" errors when clicking to read interviews and reviews etc, along with the main page takes forever to load. The screenshot feature doesn't work with my firefox, and using Explorer as my last resort, it still loads extremely slow or the pics don't load at all. The site is overcrowded with ads and all kinds of media so much, that it's hard to find anything without hitting some major ad on the way. Gamespy ain't better with ads, but at least loads faster. If i see someone posting a link from gamespot, I rather just search another site for the same information posted. It used to be a nice site, but now, it's nothing but an overweight, slow and littered with junk site with a horrible structure.

No problems here. Works just fine for me.

From experience I can say that it does sometimes depend on what browser you are using. I've noticed that Gamespot experiences severe lagging when I'm using Opera or Firefox, but it works just fine with IE.

damn. This might be my ISP is messing me up with the lag. But i'm just so suprised, that Firefox is such a popular choice now, many many websites are just not compatible , (or is firefox is not compatible) or just not a good choice to use. I have all kinds of plugins installed and yet I still find sites, unable to view anything without switching to IE first. Especially registration stuff and anything that has to do with scripts. (i get the notice on my no-script addon, but even with the script allowed, the site isn't functioning right on firefox).

Whenever you have to use IE, use Avant Browser. It builds up on IE, adding new features and better security.

I got glitch banned. Just one day i couldnt access the forums or anything when i hadnt done anything wrong in the two years that i have been there. So i go to gamefaqs.com to discuss games (except total war games of course).

I notice this also, and I think that it is mainly due to the amount of features on that site. My personal preference is GameFAQs, which received a brand new look a few days ago, yet still runs smoothly for me. (Thanks to FireFox + Adblock extension) Plus, GFAQs has a nice Firefox extension that allows neat features such as post numbering and quick reply.

The only lag I get is when first entering the site. It's takes up to a minute, most of time, for it to load all the content on the first page.

Most people from that site tend to be kinda stupid, plus with biased reviews of games. I especially liked it when Halo 2 got Game of the Year, and Half Life 2 got best shooter. I'm a Gamefaqs user, and as soon as we conjoined with Gamespot, we were getting a lot of posts that usually made no sense and didn't deserve to be there, and most of the users were GS'ers, and we got an increased amount of trolls. A lot of people hate it also when a Gamespotter posts an image, but doesnt post the link for people who use Gamefaqs, and we have to remind them again and again.

wow, I didn't know that people belong into classes, based on visiting certain websites

So let me get this straight. there are Game-spotters and ...eerrmm ummm..game..Faqers? :laughing:

on the other hand, gamefaqs comes in with light-speed on my browser.
I start to find it unecessary for websites to feature all these eye-candy flash menus and media stuff and overloaded display with way too much lists and links galore.
I got sick of that stuff a long time ago. No wonder people rather search the web with the google.com site instead of msn.com. Yahoo is still considerably fast compare to other main sites, since they found the optimal balance between speed and content.

Yep. The general GFAQs view of GSpotters is (no offense) uneducated because the only ones that seem to post in the shared boards do not create comprehendible sentences. (At least, in some peoples' views; though I know of a GSpotter that lives in Poland and is extremely educated in the history of Poland. Actually, he's a GFAQer now, but that's aside the point) You and others obviously invalidate that stereotype, however. On another note, FAQs got a change in its layout recently, which has ****** many people off. I think that they need to lighten up a little bit; the owner has a family to feed, after all, and he spends many hours on the site for maintenence, faq contributions, etc.

Oh, and Firefox + adblock solve most of the ad problems.

If your a big forum ***** like me on gamespot you'll notice every day there posting about how the website is pretty much messed up, but there doing a full overhaul of the system, basically upgradeing servers, fixing bug issues and page display issues.

I get a lot of random log outs on gamespot like i'll be posting and the next second im logged out of my account...so glitches like this will be addressed.
