Titus was born a patrician in Capua. It was there that he received his early training - a gladiator who had won some renown in the local arena's followed by a retired military tribune at some large cost. His father and mother died in 56 BCE of a coughing sickness, one which nearly claimed Titus's life as well. Determined to regain his strength he devoted some extensive time to military training, and spent most afternoons being tutored in command and tactics, along with languages. When word of a rebellion in Greece came, Titus saw his chance to earn a place in the senate, and proceeded to the Campus Martinus in Rome where he signed on for a two year service. This he expanded into a five year commission, and earned himself a command in northern Greece. After a decent, but reasonably unremarkable term he has now returned to Rome. Spending a few months in his family home - a remarkably empty place full of ghosts, though well maintained by his estate manager he has now rented a place near the centre of Rome and seeks to gain election to the senate. He knows his name and small military career should be enough - just - to get him into the curia, he now needs to seek out friends and enter the complicated circles of Roman life.
