Capture_settlement not working

Hi,

I've searched the forum, can't find an answer to this particular query, so I apologise if this is a repost.

So I've got a problem: Playing as Venice, defending Iraklion from the Byzzies I got a repeated CTD. No matter, I thought, I'll just autoresolve and after the inevitable humiliating loss, just cheat and give myself the settlement back. Unfortunately, I can't get the capture_settlement command to work.

I have no presence on crete, the byzzies have a garrison, and this is what I do:

open console
type
capture_settlement Iraklion
nothing happens.

I've tried variations on the theme such as <Iraklion> "Iraklion" iraklion "iraklion" etc etc.

Does anyone know the correct syntax? I've also tried using the region name (Isle of Crete) to no avail. Am I missing something really obvious?

Playing vanilla, downloaded from Steam only a year or two ago, so it should be v1.03 I believe. Any help is greatfully appreciated.

you can probably only use it in a script.

the best thing for you to do would be, either visit the technical help section to query the crash you experienced

or visit the modding forum!

or both of course!

As far as I know, there's no cheat for capturing settlements. Maybe for scripts, but not for the console

You mean to tell me those millions of cheaply produced cheat websites were all wrong/misleading? Disgraceful.

Oh well, I'll just have to do it the old fashioned way...

I wouldnt use too much fire, you still want to be able to live there afterwards

It only works when triggered though Camapign_script.txt.
