Unique approach to changing faction leaders and heirs
So, I've just started a campaign as Sicily on Stainless Steel 6.4, with heaps of personal rules. Only, the family tree at the start is in no way historically accurate, and of course, it can't ever be due to the limits of the game engine. I've made a few tweaks, but with respect to the starting age of the faction leader (very old at 61, with one turn per year
). Two very young sons, as in history, but much older than they should be. I won't delve into the actual history, just thought I'd give a bit of background.
The main issue I have is with the selection of the next faction heir. It looks to me that there's a distinct possibility the faction leader will die before my current heir has a son of age (the whole generals to settlement ratio issue). I won't - and can't - blitz the surrounding area (some of the submods I have activated ramp up the difficulty significantly, and penalise blitzing) so that I can increase the chances of my heir getting a son. Even if I could do that, there's no guarantee the son will come of age before the current heir ascends to the throne. Nevermind I'm using a Next Heir Ancillary mod, it's not going to be of any use if the desired next heir isn't of age
.
So, I wondered...can I use a cheat to 'solve' my problem? Is there any code that would allow me to change the leader and heir? I wouldn't normally ever use cheats, but I do see a very interesting use for such a cheat - regency by another general or family member while the rightful heir has yet to come of age (it happened historically, and with Sicily too in the exact same time frame of the game I'm playing right now). It would certainly add a nice roleplaying flavour to the game, having a character temporarily become King and keep things in order. Of course, I'd only use it for the times when the intended next heir has no chance of coming of age before the current heir becomes leader (the rest of the time, I'd rely on the Next Heir Ancillary).
Possible to use a cheat like this? No other cheats whatsoever. I am only considering this one because the potential for extra historical flavour and accuracy.

Sadly, there's no cheat that allows you to change faction leader and heir directly

simplest might be to make the starting FL younger.

Re: Unique approach to changing faction leaders and heirs
Unfortunately, I won't let myself do that - Roger I, Great Count of Sicily, died in 1101 at about 70 years of age. In-game, he starts out at 61. If I make him any younger, I have to restart, and also it will grate a little on me in terms of historical accuracy. It just wouldn't seem right to make him younger...I guess I'll have to live with it. His son, Roger, is heir, whereas Simon is not (which is funny, as it was the other way around in reality, and I didn't want to mess with traits so I kept Roger as heir as it is in SS 6.4 before I made my slight modifications - looks like Simon will get to be king for a short while no matter what
).
