Default How to build units outside faction areas?

    Hi!

I'd like to know what script to change (and exactly what to change in it) in order to be able to build faction main units outside the faction area. For example: how to build roman Hastati outside Italy.

I'd also like to know what to change if I'd like to be able to build units from another culture when I'm playing the roman faction for an example and would like to build me some hoplites in the greek cities and so on.

    Eagerly awaiting your answers

    Kind regards,

    Monteiro

Hiya, mate. Welcome to the boards. It's a bit somber right now, I'm afraid.

To build units elsewhere, you have to edit export_descr_buildings.txt to remove or change the predicate hidden resources for their recruitment. Here's a thread showing how to do that: http://www.twcenter.net/wiki/Export_...RTW_Modding%29

To build units that the faction can't ordinarily build, you have to be very cautious. Just allowing their recruitment often isn't enough--you may need to add skins for them in descr_model_battle.txt and ownership in export_descr_units.txt.

Your best bet is to just add recruitment lines in the EDB for units that have the mercenary_unit attribute. That way, you won't have to worry about the ownership and texture/sprite issues. Check descr_regions.txt if you want to know what resources map to what regions. I think it's decently well-documented.
