    Default change of retinue

ive been reading these forums for a while and ive yet to come across an idea for roman titles to be used as retinues. such as having an consul/tribune ect retinues, although we have them in the game as triats, if they were retinues we would be able to choose what family members are what, and make it more realistic. i often play as the romani and the idea of choosing who my consul`s would be, who the military tribunes would be will add alot more roleplay and gameplay to the campaign. i refer people to this guide from the RTR forums as an idea to how i somtimes play

im just wondering if this idea has been thought of before, if so can someone plz post a link as i have yet to read/find it.
and is this at all possible? im aware in order to swap retinues we would need to take the family members to the same place, would it be worth it? anyone else have an idea on this?

The 1.5 patch and BI allow this to be done. The problem prior to that is that you can't easily track who has an ancillary or if someone already has it. You could have 1 consul the whole game, or potentially dozens at once.

Why would chosing your own consuls make sense anyway? It's a one-year elective office.

Well i see both sides to this, however i thoguht consuls were elected not chosen by us, so i feel a more random event between the highest ranking leaders overall would be a better option. Not sure if they can implement a 1 year ancillary, but who knows the eb team has done hings no one ever imagined. -Leon

well you could change the rules of romanship for the benifit of gameplay, such as increase the time served as consul. in a roleplaying type game you could justify your choice of consul with the influence he has, the age of him and family connectons

Maybe its just me but the idea of just making up a new system of office holding for the Romans seems kind of odd and not particularly appealing. Of course the problem with the system in RTW is that no roman should be a military commander for more than a few years at a strech and the ones that are should require imperium of some sort to be commanders, so I guess its not really a big deal which way its done.
