Default Age of Empires 2: Westeros

I've designed what I think is a very good Westeros scenerio for Age of Empires 2. The map is extremely detailed and the names of cities and castles have been edited to read like the Westeros map.

    The players are as follows:
Robb Stark (user): Grey, Celts, castle Winterfell
Tywin Lannister: Red, Franks, castles The Red Keep, Casterly Rock
King Stannis: Orange, Teutons, castle Dragonstone
King Renly: Yellow, Britons, castle Storm's End
House Tyrell: Green, Britons, castle Highgarden
House Tully: Cyan, Britons, castle Harrenhall
The Ironborn: Purple, Vikings, castle Pyke
Vale of Arryn: Blue, Teutons, castle The Eyrie

Because Age of Empires only allows 8 players, there are no Martells on the map, and Dorne is an empty desert. Essos is also part of the map, and Pentos, the Dothraki, and Qarth can be converted when visible.

Other buildings with edited titles include: White Harbor (dock), the Dreadfort (town center), the Twins (gates and watch towers), the Wall (watch tower), the Great Sept of Baelor (monument), Riverrun (town center), Pentos (town center), the House of the Undying (monastery), Qartheen Bazaar (market), Qarth (gate), King's Landing (gate), Oldtown (town center), the Citadel (university).

I think this map is a real winner and I'd love to share it with anyone who's interested. I don't know how to make the scenario available online, but if someone could give me instructions I'll put it up on here for everyone to enjoy.

Here are some images from the scenario. The color is a bit off on these screenshots, but it looks fine during the game.

    The Eyrie
    Renly's Camp
    The Red Keep
    Pentos
    Dragonstone
    Harrenhall
    Riverrun
    Storm's End
    Pyke
    Qarth

Damn it, i have to buy age of empires 2 again.. Loved that game. And apparently it is also possible to heavily mod that game- Adding new units and factions is entirely possible as i have seen.

If you wanted to make it available online I would suggest wrapping it up in a RAR file and then uploading it to somewhere like filefront.com or mediafire.com

I might reinstall AoE 2 just to check this out - looks pretty good!

Nice! I lost my copy of AoE2 awhile back, but its really cheap nowadays, and I might also install it just for this. I especially like the King's Landing gate, it actually looks like a city entrance.

Reinstalled AoE2 in anticipation of giving this a try - any news of when you're putting online? XD

What I usually do is open a documents window before starting the game. For some reason, that always works.

I'm glad people are enthusiastic about this, and I'm trying to figure out how to upload the scenario. I have no idea how to do this so be patient.

You can try to open task manager after you loaded the game...then end the proces of the explorer.exe

After finishing your game....go back to task manager and add new task...typ explorer.exe and you are good to go

That worked great on games like Fallout or arkanum
Alexander the great reported in 326BC india, that his men where afraid to go into the caves...because of the dragons living there
Even Herodotus wrote...that he saw wingend serpents in arabia.
The word Dinosaur wasn't in the english dictonary untill 1860...WHY??
Because now we question the existence of god...Thats exactly what the elite(nwo, bohemian club, bilderberg group and all the other sunworhippers) want.
Hollywood, the music and game industry are now ruled by the illuminati.Just check how many times you see a pyramid(satanic symbol),or 1 eye(the all-seeing eye of horus=satanic symbol),a checkered black and white floor or walls(masonic floor) in games, movies and cd covers. They hide messages in there products.
And dont accept the FEMA chip....its the mark of the beast

Indeed, this will work. Alternatively you can make a .bat file in Notepad to do that for you, automatically shutting explorer.exe when you click the shortcut, launching the game, and then starting explorer.exe up again automatically when you quit AoE.

I can't recall the exact thing to type in, but it's like three short lines of commands. A quick Google should get you a forum thread or something similar telling what to do.

This is what you have to write (assuming you have the conquerors expansion):

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    taskkill /F /IM Explorer.exe
    age2_x1.exe
    Start explorer.exe

Then put the .bat file in the age2_x1 folder (which is inside your aoe 2 folder).
Then to make the game easier to run without bothering to go to the folder and click the .bat on purpose, you can also make a shortcut of the .bat file, place it in your desktop, and change it's name to Age of Empires 2, and give it the icon of the real game and there, you have a "normal" way to run age of empires 2 in your windows 7

Haven't played AoE on my Win7 yet, but if I had to guess I would say run in compatibility mode?

Brilliant! The first thing I thought when I heard of the new game of thrones game was that someone should just make it on AOE. Please post it asap. You should also upload it here and these guys might be able to help you out http://aok.heavengames.com/blacksmit...egory=campaign
