Just curious to see if anyone knows what it is, there seems to be some correlation between age/importance of character and the size of the bodyguard.
Thanks in advance.

On large scale the standard bodyguard size is 24. Faction leaders get an additional 14, while heirs get slightly less at 8. In addition, the other modifiers of bodyguard size are personal security and influence. Each point in personal security gives two bodyguards, while you gain another two for every three points of influence. Age itself has nothing to do with it, though older members often have larger bodyguards because they have built up influence and maybe received traits like Spymaster.
didnt know that about "security"
but what about this--- why do some generals lose bodyguards yet their traits and "influence" are "normal?"
every campaign i get a couple generals with less than 20 bodyguards and they aren't good for much but grandstanding and rally horning-- it is especially troublesome during that period after the marian reforms but before your faction gets into "super crank" mode where a 6/7 star general with a decently sized bodyguard can really have a dramatic impact
Around 50 is the highest I believe I have ever gotten on large scale, although I believe that's mostly because the guards die in battle and I can't retrain them to replenish the ranks....
They auto replenish after a few turns

A very slow replenish that takes several turns.
I've found it to be really fast. I've had a unit of 100 went down to 20 replenish back up to 80 after 1 turn
Really? I don't think it's ever been that fast for me, but I usually don't pay very close attention to my General's body guard.
