    Default Unskippable intro cinematic loop

Sometimes when I launch Rome: Total War, the game goes straight-out into the opening cinematic, where it loops about 10 seconds of it and there's no way for me to cancel the loop. I can't press escape, I can't press the windows button and even Ctrl+Alt+Delete is impervous to this. The normal mouse icon is also present as if I wasn't in a program at all. The only way to fix this is to shut down the computer, and even then it tends to appear after about 5 launches. I really don't know how to fix it. Any help would be lovely.

Are you using a wireless mouse?

create a shortcut right click it and click on properties after everything on there write -nm(outside of the quotation marks) that should help

I play it over Steam, so I launch it from there. Can't i just set launch options - which I believe is essentially the same as properties - on there instead?

    I am, but I don't see how that's relevant.

It may be relevant because of driver issues. What brand/make/model mouse are you using? What driver are you using for that mouse? Can you look for a driver update? Standard PnP drivers probably won't pass muster with a game this old and a mouse that new.

This problem has been seen in M2 and that's a newer game - I can't help but think that irishron is on the right track. Good luck!

Have you tried it with a wired mouse, yet? In Total War games, it is relevant.

Yeah, I tried to do it with the launch options on Steam right after I made the last post, I think it's fixed now.
