    Default 2 Questions..

Hi i've been looking around these forums for a few months now, and only just made an account so please bear with me

    1. Is it possible to add this mod to my Steam Games Library? I would so desperately love to take screenshots throughout my time playing and upload them to steam cloud, but at present when i play the mod, i have found no way to add it to my library and launch it from there. I've seen that you can install it using steam, so would this allow me to take steam cloud screenshots? (I have the box game btw, but would this be a problem?)

    2. Also, i have downloaded the 2 part download + the 4.2 patch, yet Wales isn't a playable faction (doesn't even exist for that matter). I installed to the default location, but am i missing something here? Do I need to "unpack" this mod before playing?

    thanks

You have not installed something correctly, probably the patch. Read the instructions carefully and make sure that you are installing the patch in the M2TW folder and not the mods or KGCM folder.
I have attached a screen shot of the faction selection screen for a proper install and you can see that Wales is playable. You do not need to unpack anything, just be sure to install the menu crash fix located in the second post of the patch thread.

I'm installing to the default place though :/, and the default place to install the patch is the MTW2 folder, not the mods folder. Is it supposed to go to program files, or program files x86?

The patch should be placed in the Programs folder where KGCM is installed. The Programs folder is for XP users and the Programs (x86) is for Vista/Win 7 users and KGCM will usually be placed in a path using one of these folders, unless directed elsewhere. Did you disable UAC for the M2TW folder as suggested in the install instructions before installing? (Assuming you are using Vista/Win 7)

I am no expert on Steam by any means, but you can try this:
    1. Launch Steam, go to View->Games List
    2. Click on 'Add a Game' in the bottom left corner
    3. From the list of available applications, check the box next to the app you want to add.
    4. Select 'Add Selected Programs' at the bottom.
I have not tried this, so don't know how it will work, try at your own risk
I have attached an image of the Steam selection screen to assist you.

ahhh yeah thanks i tried that previously, but the KGCM link wasn't there to select how did you manage to be able to select it? Also, when you start up the Medieval total war 2 launcher, i can only select from the main game + each of the 4 kingdoms campaigns, the KGCM isn't selectable. I can start it form the desktop icon, but Steam doesn't seem to recognize that

I do not use the M2TW launcher, I just have a desktop icon for the mod that I launch the game from. As to why it appears for me and not for you, I have no idea. To quote Richard Pryor 'I just did it'.
Seriously, I am afraid that you may have to ask someone with more experience with Steam. Sorry I am unable to provide more assistance, but try posting in the tech support forum for M2TW or on Steam, surely someone has asked this question before. If I do discover some further information, I will be sure to pass it on to you. I also am using the box version, by the way.

The install instructions have to account for at least 3 operating systems and two architectures, 32 bit and 64 bit. Some assumptions have to be made such as the user knowing what OS they are using and the architecture of their machine. The installation should never be split between two program files folders. Once v3.0 is installed in the folder that contains the Kingdoms.exe file, the patches should be installed in this program files folder as well.

Windows usually will not let you move 'program files', it messes up the registery. If you can just move the KGCM mod folder to the location of your Kingdoms installation that should work. Otherwise, uninstall and start over again. (safest solution)
