Yes, you will need to edit export_descr_unit.txt, and descr_model_battle.txt.

I take it in the export_descr_unit I need to change:
ToCode:mount barbarian heavy chariot
And in the descr_model_battle I change what?Code:mount generals horse

You will need to do a lot more than that. Look closely at how other barbarian generals units are done, then copy that format. Look at some modding tutorials to understand the structure.

If it's too much work I will do it another time as and just be gaul or germania. Maybe someone could write a tutorial on it![]()

There are already tutorials on how to edit units, look at those first, and then experiment. Its how i learnt how to mod.

Trial and error was the best way for me
At the beginning of descr_mount.txt there is an explenation of al the indicators and as you see the indicators are very different of horsemen and chariots. Then you need the change export_descr_unit.txt and then you go to decr_model_battle.txt (or something like that) and change the skins.
edit:
Change first the type of unit in descr_mount.txt
then watch at other horsemen and generals.![]()
Doing these text edits can you put infantry on horseback and make them look like they are riding on horesback or do you have to edit the models?

You need to change the models a little bit. But you can learn it here, in these tutorial : How to mount or dismount units

It's not the models you are changing, it is the skeletons that manipulate the models.
