    Default Modelling with Blender.

    Hi,

I have noticed around these forums that many of the modellers use 3D MAX. I was wondering if it was possible to model for RTW using Blender? Which is a free application. If it is possible it may help people wanting to get into modelling, as it is totally free!

    Cheers

Moved to the Mod Workshop as only tutorials and walkthroughs should be posted in the tutorials and walkthroughs forum.

Sorry, only 3dsmax can be used for modelling in RTW.

Why's that? You use blender too? I would be suprised if there is no way of opening the files, Im pretty sure that blender can open 3dmax files, with a plugin to my knowledge.

OK just checked the blender website, there is definity a 3dsmax import/export script, wether this is what is needed i am not sure.

maybe but 3ds max needs a import export script to open RTW cas files.... i dont know but i think that may be a problem as the cas files arent 3dsmax files....

If this is possible, regardless of the amount of plug ins, etc needed, it would be a fairly large plus (in my book) to the modding community. Then people would not have to pay $3,000 (or otherwise obtain:wink: ) 3dsmax in order to model. I can tell you I would be the first one to go out and get it! So when you guys come back with the bad news for (as I am sure you will), just let me down easy

Well blender can only open 3dsmax files, and you need a speical script for 3dsmax to open cas files in 3ds max, so you would need 3ds max to open the cas files, save them as a 3dsmax file, then use blender to open them.
