Default Making an all-Cavalry army with the Romans

Hey everybody! I've been experimenting with all-cavalry armies with the Romans and was wondering if anybody had suggestions for army compositions. Early on I use Stratiotae with Acritae and AOR horse archers (Magyars/Turcomans) and progress to using Scholarii, Cavalarii and Proniarii later on in the game (I'm playing an early era right now, its 1200, a few turns before I get to produce new Scholari!). I'm mostly looking for new ideas on all cavalry armies formations and tactics, I typically use my HAs on the flanks to surround the enemy but am trying to figure out how to best integrate my lancers into the equation. Thanks all!

2 acritae, 2 athanatoi, rest horse archers. Toss in a few scholarii, if you wish.

Scolari dont climb on walls. By the way a full cavalry army cost a fortune.

Get like 4 or 5 units of Scholarii, that's enough to take on nearly any non-horse archer full stack in my experience.

Any cost effective cavalry army will only have 10 or less units. If you don't care about cost effectiveness its difficult to tell what you are asking. Any long range horse archers should be majority and 1 general + 2 heavy cavalry as lancers will be able to handle almost any AI army except Mongols/Timurids or a very late era army.

So cost effective would be 4-6 HA, 2-3 lancers, 1-2 acritae/stradiots to mop up.

Scholarii... Extremely good units but agonizingly slow.

Oh and were are you in your campaign? If your at the point were your swimming in gold then pretty much a ton of horse archers some good but fast cavalry then throw in some Scholarii in their

I'm currently up to 1200 and am approaching the event that allows you to produce more Scholari, Siphonatores and Spathiarii. How many folks use Acritae and Proniarii in their post 1300 Cavalry forces? I know that the AP javs of the Acritae make them great anti heavy cav units on the flanks. In terms of cost efficiencey, I'm quite rich at this point so I can create full Cav stacks to do my fighting...Thanks for the responses!
