    Default Which AI difficulty

    Does anyone know what Difficulty I should set the AI for if I want to play realistically? - That being, the AI and I are as much likely to flee in a battle, neither I or the AI should have an unexplained advantage. This mostly goes for Battle Difficulty I guess...

    Anyone knows?

    EDIT: Found it elsewhere, the answer was Medium.

    play Very hard/very hard... it's just too easy for me...
    The Battle Difficulty should always be very hard. Maybe try out the AI from Germanicus

    I'd argue that VH is the perfect match of an experienced player.

    My reasoning;

    The AI, with a high-starred general, is fairly unbreakable. The same goes for the armies of a well-starred human-controlled general. (Try it if you like, with a custom battle).

    VH makes sieges more interesting, as the AI assaulting the walls will be a little less brittle, and can absorb casualties and fight on; this is not possible on the other settings, as the AI takes a few hits and heads for the border.

    The Human player must use generals and sensible tactics with the AI on VH, simply because it is unlikely to run away easily.

    - That said, if the AI is badly led, or led by a captain, then its soldiers are just as brittle in morale as your own would be under similar circumstances.

    - The moral here is - put it on VH, and aim to kill the enemy general as quickly as you can if you don't trust your infantry or whatever in a prolonged engagement

    Hard is probably best if you don't want the AI to flee after a few moments of battle but not so much that you have to kill AI general and half the army before a rout starts.

    Once you've got your head around VH battles there is no going back as all the others seem like a doddle (very easy).

    Although it does make seige assaults a challenge

    I always think the AI is a retarded child like mild and needs all the help it can get, so I advise to place it on the highest settings possible.
