    Default Ptolemy Campaign

Just started a Ptolemy campaign, 0-turn and H/H

I haven't played that many turns yet, but the economy is really tight.

Really tight, can't build in more than max 3 cities at the same time.

Trait system seems to work fine. New family members have developed at a fine pace.

Be sure and recruit a few generals and see how they progress as well.

I am pretty sure having played some more turns.

I've uploaded some more pictures, but I think that other betatesters should try this campaign to so we could have some more input.

My input is that the economy is too tight. After a few turns, you would have enough money to upgrade in all cities but not with the Ptolemy. I've to send my army to war all the time and reduce the army upkeep in order to get some money, but then I don't have enough funds to retrain my army. Meanwhile my cities grow and public order decreases as I can't build in all cities at the same time.

Currently I've 16 regions, but if the AI knew it would be like an open candy store. To the north Lysimachia is completely isolated and I cannot recruit because of the lack of funds.

Halikarnassos, Patara, Side and Patos are also more or less unprotected.

To the west Cyrene could be taken easily unless I leave myself in a dilemma. If I were to protect Cyrene, I would leave myself wide open to the east. I have had one full stack army that currently needs retraining and this is the only reason I have 25000. But only beeing able to have one full stack army with 16 regions is tough conditions.

The trait system seems to be working fine. I cannot afford new generals, but thankfully a lot of new family members are coming trough but I cannot afford academys and shrines that should help them develop even further

That sounds quite interesting for me. I mean it actually really sounds good!
Finally a faction where you can't expand that fast because of lacking funds, and have to build up your cities. Will try that one next!

/edit: This is 0-turn I see. quite difficult to compare as I'm playing one turn most of the time. So I will try a 0turn now. Just for betatesting. Don't want to but hey...

Ok, that's probably a bit 'too' tight. I'll bump it a bit.

When you update, be sure and delete map.rwm.

Server appears to be down, so I'll upload asap.

Played some turns into this campaign as well, I don't think it's too tight. You just have to think about what to build.
No problems in defending my mainlands yet, the settlements near Pergamon and the isolated Lysimacheia might become a problem though.

Generally as it occured to me in my "civilized" campaigns yet the office and leadership systems work quite well, though I think the given boni are a little ... high, compared to what boni I got when playing Averni for example.

This is what happens when I try to start a campaign at 2471.

    To answer tone.

This is how I build my economy no matter what faction I play. I always try to upgrade to a large foundry in my capital and retrain my current troops. Otherwise I build markets, land clearences, ports and other buildings that increase trade. I'll try to postpone buldings that give happiness bonus unless necessary and upgrade my other cities. Tax buildings are postponed. Early on, I'll try to conquer nearby cities controlled by free people. My main focus early on is to build a stable economy and defend my empire before expanding.

Do an update and it should be fixed.

As you can see on the first three images my biggest army consist of 568 men, so even though money is better than before, I still think it's tight. But then again it depends on the purpose. I've never played a faction on any mod where I felt that money was so tight. The cities are far apart which could be a problem in the short run but if I lose them I could conquer them back in the long run

I don't know if this can be fixed, but I moved my national leader back to my capital in order to retrain the army. My income fell, and I moved my national leader out of the city. The general back has no manament skills at all, and my national leader has 6 or something. Even though things were back to normal, my income had gone from 32000 to 16000 and the next turn after moving the governor out of the city and back again, it was back at 34000.

At the same time, my cities are expanding and i am having trouble keeping the cities happy because I have limited funds to build.

I think the trait system works rather well in this campaign.

    Comment to this:
To see the actual income of a city you should have a look at the city details screen and look at the income through taxes, trade, farming + government skill. The number shown on the campaign map is just an amount depending on population in relation to army upkeep.
