Can't start campaing

Ok, here is the deal.
I have Windows 7 and everything works fine to the point where I have to start new campaing.

When I've chosen my faction and settings, I press start but nothing happens.
I hear this banging sound and cheers of crowd (ingame start campaing sound), but the game pops back to the menu where you can choose to start new campaing, custom battle ect.

I've tried to play custom battle and it works like a charm.

I have installed the games and mods in this order:
Medieval 2
Patched it up
Medieval 2 Kingdoms
Patched it up
Stainless Steel 6.3
Stainless Steel 6.4

I'm running them with admistrator mode (or what ever) and compatible with Windows XP service pack 3 ON.

The game actually crashed when I installed Stainless Steel 6.4 at the point in the end where you choose your campaing (early or late) and mods etc.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Have you edited any of your files by any chance? This happens if you edit a file that's only campaign-related (e.g. descr_strat, campaign_scripts) and mess something up. It's not necessarily the problem, but it could be. Otherwise it could be related to your installation. Did you remember to do the UAC fix after installing 6.3? Did you run the setup files as admin?

Alright, I got it working.
I just went to medieval2 mods folder, double clicked the setup, did the campaing setup, press start and that's it. Sorry for bothering you.

Had the same issue here, running 32bit Vista just barley fresh-installed both Vista & SS tonight.

~Tried running the setup file from the mod folder, same issue.

~Tried selecting different AI's from there, same issue.

~Tried selecting long & short campaign, same issue.

~Tried selecting all the different factions, same issue.

Uninstalled SS 6.3, reinstalled 6.3 & 6.4. That particular issue has gone away, but now, at the same exact point during the setup of a new campaign I have this issue.

He says he re-ran a "fix"? I've been looking around and havnt been able to find some kind of fix? Is this a patch or something I havnt seen? Otherwise I tried the setup file like before, still have the issue.

right click the ss_setup.exe file in the folder, and click run as admin. As for the fix...that was for ss6.3...not 6.4.

Have you turned UAC off and running SS as full admin?
