Default Alot traitors appeared after Jihad has been called?

I'm playing at Portugal, and it's turn 100 , a Jihad has been called against one of my cities and alot of traitors begin to appear ( 2/3 of the captains and 1 general betrayed me on next turn ) and if I left any armies with a captain or a general round 6 loyalties , they'll probably become traitor after 1-2 turns Before the Jihad, I never have a traitor
    Sorry for my bad English

perhaps you had some secret muslim captians? JK... or they may have been bought by the moors (Ie bribery) unless they went rebel. then it probably has nothing to do with the jihad... just bad timing

If you have Byg's Grim Reality installed, armies led by captains are much more likely to desert.

Also, check and see if the faction leader has the "Offensive to Nobles" trait. This trait can spark a civil war.

So was this why I got a random message that some rebels were trying to take over Bulgaria during my Sicily campaign?

In BYG Small groups without a general don't usually rebel, I've taken to moving entire armies in single pieces, annoying, but sometimes I don't have an available general to shepard the flock along, I realize this kind of defeats the purpose, however, it's tedious and not something I recommend unless you're desperate, another thing to do with larger armies is use a boat to hold them, that keeps your armies from eating all the supplies in an area and boats as far as I've seen never rebel unless a faction dies.

Firstly, we don't know for sure if he is using bgr at all until he tells us.

Don't worry about defeating the purpose of bgr, you aren't. Sending unled troops in small groups is the best method to avoid them rebelling or disbanding themselves. However, this is not an easy option as splitting a 20 unit army into 20 pieces will utterly ravage a region and the economic damage they cause will be 20 times greater.

Can you explain a bit more about the economic damage of sending units without a general? I just started playing BGR and dont really know all the details...

    Thanks

ok im kinda of guessing here but....so you have 20 'armies' now foraging on the land instead of one 'army'. Tho the total unit size of the army hasn't change it causes more damage because you take up that much more space (i.e. more units in the squares for longer, or more squares being taken up on the campaign map). Thus instead of foraging/using up resources for one turn on one area and then starting recovery...you use them continously for 20 turns or on more than one area delaying recovery start albeit with less initial damage. I think that was his point at least, correct me if im wrong byg.

no thats a scripted event in the game representing when the bulgarians rebelled against the romans, like the mongol invasion, or tuetonic emergence. You get that message no matter what.

I wasn't trying to blame BGR at all, it's just well known that captains rebel at a much higher rate than any other mod I know of.
Reading further... maybe that explains my broke generals, my economy is usually booming, but my generals are always ... always broke.

I know you weren't and you were probably correct, I was hinting that the OP should tell us what he was using in order to get the appropriate answer rather than us all playing guessing games.

It doesn't cost the generals, it costs the economy.

Download BGR IV_E_Manual_4.PDF, search "damage", then "forage"

I don't want to derail this thread so please ask BGR questions in the BGR thread or start another one.

That would be the Bulgarian uprising rather than anything else I presume.
