    Default Installing problem?!?!??!

Unfortunately, Filefront is telling me that the 3.0 file does not exist on their website, so i cannot download that way. I tried doing the 2 part alternative download, which went fine. It said i could install it into the "kingdoms grand campaign mod" in medieval 2/mods. However, when i go to check to see if its in there, this folder is no where to be found??? All it has in my mods folder are the 4 kingdoms campaigns, but no kingdoms grand campaign mod It has a launch icon for the mod on my desktop, but when i click on it, a black box flickers for a second before dissapearing, and doesn't load the game

What am i doing wrong? Because i desperately wish to play this amazing looking mod I apologise if its a newb problem. I have looked over the technical help section but found nothing

Have you made sure you installed to the right place. Also, do you have admin privelidges and/or is user account control switched off?

The correct installation path for KGCM 3.0 is normally C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\kingdoms_grand_campaign_mod. KGCM patch 4.2 is installed differently though to C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War. But if your game is not installed inside the C:\Program Files folder then install both parts to the correct drive where your M2TW was installed.

ok- make sure you are installing to the Med2 folder- not Med2/whatever
It will create a folder for KGCM
Also, make sure the program files (x86) doesn't catch you out.

Goddammit, filefront are at it again deleting mod files without any warning. Please can everyone download the alternative version parts 1 and 2 for now.

Looks like I'll have to upload the alternative installation parts 1 and 2 to another file sharing site. As I doubt I will be able to upload 3.0 in one part again. I will try tonight but uploading these files can take forever when it is busy on the evening. This may have to wait until the weekend early in the morning.

Great, could you please post the links if you are able and they will be investigated and if approved by Dave added to the instructions?
Sometimes unauthorized or unapproved links are provided and may not be in the best interest of the community, so they need to be reviewed. Thanks for your efforts.

Hi all I just downloaded this mod today and installed it but after installation it just crashes straight to desktop as soon as the loading screen appears. I've done a complete un-install of Medieval 2, Kingdoms and the mod. I then reinstalled them but the same problem continues to happen. I'm running it on windows 7 as the admin account and have a box version of the game. I also installed the patch but it had no effect, using the 2 part download btw. Thanks in advance for any help.

A few questions to help narrow the problem:
Did you disable the UAC before installing?
Are you able to run Kingdoms without the mod?
Did you install the two part v3.4 (or the the one v3.0 file if you managed to get it before GameFront deleted it), then the v4.2 patch and finally the menu crash fix, in that order? (May sound like a dumb question, but you would be suprised how often it happens)
    Can you play custom battles?
Did you install the patch into the correct folder?
Did you install into the default location or are you installing in another folder/drive?

Yes UAC is disabled and was when I installed
Kingdoms runs fine without the mod as does Medieval 2
I used the two part v3.4, then the v4.2 patch and then the menu crash fix in that order
Game wont load past the first splash screen so no can't do anything with it
Installed the patch directly into the Medieval 2 total war folder, this created a second KGCM folder in my mods folder should that happen?
Installing into Program files(x86) where the Medieval 2 folder is.

No. This is what the complete path should be if you installed it in Programs (x86)
    C:\Program Files (x86)\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\kingdoms_grand_campaign_mod
This folder structure should already be in place before you install the patch. The patch should be installed into the C:\Program Files (x86)\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\ folder. Could you attach a screen shot of the contents of your C:\Program Files (x86)\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\ folder?
Also make sure that these folders are not 'write-protected' or 'read-only' before installing.
Do you have administrative privileges when installing the mod and patch?

That was the path for the folder when it installed the initial 3.4v

I did install the patch into the correct folder in Program files x86 but it created another kingdoms_grand_campaign_mod folder for some reason. as for the files themselves they were not write protected or read-only and I have admin privileges on the account that I was using. That said I did manage to get this working by simply uninstalling everything and reinstalling it all into the Program Files, everything worked the first time round so there must have been a problem with using the Program Files x86. Thanks for the help though.

Just a note to everyone, I deleted danny's post above because the 3 download links in it were outdated versions of KGCM. Also they will not work properly installed alongside the latest patch 4.2.

Please do not download KGCM from strategy informer.
Anyone who does should recieve no help installing the mod whatsoever. Because last time I checked the main download from strategy informer was corrupted and did not work correctly. I will get some new download links up at the weekend.
