I got a request to turn the ancillary of the historian Ammianus Marcellinus into an ordinary portrait, dressed in a general's outfit ( for a "what if" scenario ). So here he is:

Hey Joar, is it possible that you could PM me the Figures of Western Gaul and the decline of the west (Aetius, Attila, Aegidius, Theodoric, etc) and help me script them into IBUR? It would be much appreciated and you'd recieve full credit.

Sorry, they're not finished yet, and I've got several other things on my to-do list before I can start work on them again.

Man, that Ammianus portrait looks awesome. And he's wearing scale too!

Curiously he has the same beard that the "Historian" ancillary, which is a nice detail. I really like the young portrait, overal they are trully authentic and late roman faces, a very good aproach to how the author of Res Gestae could have looked.
You should add him to the main gallery Joar, sharing space with Julianus and Shapur, he surely diserves it.

In the Ammianus portrait I see a Flemish influence, yes XV Flemish painting.......The influences in the art of Joar are noble!

No, there's no new preview. I just responded to the compliments I got after the Ammianus Marcellinus portrait.

I praised the Ammianus Marcellinus portrait as Joar said, because I was away and I checked the forum sporadically during August. I´m sorry that I confused you Diocle.

I was adding a touch of French elegance to the already wonderful thread of Master Joar but as you want:

French: "Mais non mon cher Tomy! Vous étiez parfait comme toujours."

Italian : "Ma no, mio caro Tomy! Sei stato perfetto come sempre!"

Transl. for Germanic tribes (Angli, Saxones, Juti, Frisones, Batavi, etc, etc,):
'But not, my dear Tomy! You've been perfect as always!'
