Default Military access - is it in MTW2?

Military access - I'm playing stainless steel, but I dont know if this is a SS feature or a MTW2 feaqture.

I see an army form a neutral faction wandering over my land to go and attack my ally (Portugal in this case- I'm playing as Leon.)

I dont want them there and i think my land should be a buffer for my ally.

Is there an option I didn't check ? Or is this a SS thing ?

Yes Military access is in M2TW, your rep won't go down if you attack an army that's crossing your territory, unless they are an ally.

its in the game but is has nowhere as much impact as in empire/napoleon/shogun, or even Rome. In rome , playing as a roman faction, you would get a warning from the senate if you crossed land without military acces. in medievall ii it has barely impact

You just gave me a very good scripting idea.

Has any mod addressed this? This is one of most annoying oversights in the game. AI does not consider that entering my realm will get it attacked and drawn into war with me. Same should apply for players who wonder for more than one turn into AI controlled lands.

I guess it would be easy enough to mod in the penalty for wandering into foreign land, but not so easy to mod the AI to avoid doing that. That may be why modders didn't put it in.

It's hard to justify the incursions in terms of role play/immersion. Still , it's a great game.

If you are crossing into a neutral area your reputation goes down and you may be attacked. But if a neutral army comes into your territory and you attack it you don't loose rep(I think). I remember in the Greek extended mod for Rome your general had a perk that appeared if he was in an area that wasn't yours for long that reduced his move points

Also I noticed that if the army is on a crusade it has the crusade icon on and it's more understandable. Not so cool when you're a Christian faction and the stack is on a Jihad, or vice-versa.
