Default How do you change horses ?

Playing with the Holy Roman Empire, I found that Ritterbruder recruited have the standard hre horses, with their yellow-red-black colors, whereas black and white ones when you play them with the Teutonic Order, which surprised me since Templars and Hospitallers keep their original horses any faction they're played with.

So, the question is : How can I make them mount their original horses, and is it even possible ?

in the data folder theres a file called
export_desc_units.txt ( or something very near to that... search for "desc_units" )

this is a list of all units! read the first lines! it explaines itself!

    search for "Ritterbruders"
there is an entry for the horses called something with "mount"
    you have to change that!

    to what?

if there is already a unit that has the exact mount you want to have search that unit and copy its horse to ritterbruders!

    otherwise go to data/units/models ( or data/models/units... )
theres a file something with "models", the ending is .db i think!
    open it!
the first entrys are the horses!
use this file as a list of available horses! but DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING unless you know what you are doing!

i have tw not installed at this machine so i have to remember the folders and file´s names!
    sorry if it is imprecise!

As the above poster said, it has to do with their mount in export_descr_units

As you can see here, the mount is barded horse, which is a generic horse model among all factions. The problem is that TO and HRE have different models for barded horse. The reason the Knights Templar and Hospitaller always look the same is because they have a specific (not generic) horse that they use, which is the same among the factions.

I think the only way to get around this would be to make a new Ritterbruder-specific mount so that they wouldn't be using a generic mount. Then they would look the same among different factions rather than taking on the horse model for each faction.

THAT is very clear. Now I understand, I feared something like that, thanks.

Now all I need is to find the generic texture of the Teutonic Horse, rename it, and designate it in the Ritterbruder equipment.

I could use some help on this one, I fear to blow all this thing up.

Edit : Tried, but failed. All I succeded is to have untextured horses... Meanwhile, and since I'm past Gothic event, I simply changed their line in "export_descr_unit.txt :

    from "mount barded horse"
    to "mount armoured horse"

Nicer, but still, this is less coherent than their original one.

    So...?

Isn't there a nice coding specialist somewhere who could look into this ?

Ok, now a very technical question :

    In battle_models.modeldb, I found these lines :

    14 teutonic_order
    77 unit_models/Mounts/Barded_Horse/textures/horse_barding_teutonic_order.texture
    70 unit_models/Mounts/Barded_Horse/textures/horse_barding_normal2.texture
    57 unit_sprites/teutonic_order_Mount_Barded_Horse_sprite.spr

It designates the files used, that I understand, but the numbers before them ?

Number of letters and special marks used in the line.
    First line - teutonic_order - has 14 marks.
