    Default Guilds & Archers proficiency

I think we should rework the Guild's advantages, especially the warrior's : Woodsman, Swordsmith, and Horse Breeder.

For now, the best one is by far the Swordsmith, because it gives experience to both infantry and cavalry.
Therefore, a Horse Breeder's Guild looses a lot of its interests.
To add balance, maybe we should make the Swordsmith's give experience ONLY to Infantry, and not Cavalry.

As for the Woodsman's Guild, why would we want archers to have experience since it only helps for close combat ?!?
Shouldn't experience help for close AND ranged combat then ?

    What do you think ?

Experienced missile units (both foot and mounted) have better accuracy and gets more kills.

I agree... additionaly, there is something strange with bonus from guilds. Once the unit is trained, a lot of times the bonus experience is not applied and you have to retrain it in order to get it, worse part that bonus is not added and money is spent . Plus, what happened with weapons upgrade? it seems swordsman guild doesn´t give that anymore?

Weapon upgrade was in Rome Total War, if I remember well. I haven't seen that in Medieval II Total War, or am I mistaken ?

And yes, there's a very anoying bug hardcoded, if you load your game after having put your units to train or retrain, they won't get their experience bonus. If you load your game, you have to check all your settlements and re-choose your units before ending turn. Then you'll get your bonus.

Weapon upgrades have been removed in SS. When you save your game after you have selected units for retraining they won't get xp. Some kind of bug with m2tw. Just don't save after you select them for an upgrade

2 important informations from reading a random thread :-). Didn't know about the archers accuracy and that work - around for the retraining bug is good to know too. Guess that means goodbye to my end-of-turn saves

Right, there are lots of informations that you have to search for, I didn't know either for the archers, good to know.

Isn't there a database of all these important things we can't know while playing ?

And for the useless Horse Breeder's Guild, did I miss something to ?

i feel like experienced cavalry reacts faster to commands, making it easier to charge - retreat - charge
