    Default Turn amount??

    So I've been wondering - How long does it take from other players in this forum to finish the long campaing in the game? It'd be fun to know and see is the majority blitzers or turtles.

    To me personally it goes around 30 to 70 turns depending on some "random" factors like sudden lack in treasury's side and the nation i'm playing with. And this is with no special intentios and actions of blitzing. And I play on VH/VH

    Please understand that I didn't make this thread for bragging around, just to have information of fellow-players habits

    PS. I'm an experienced player but new to the forums and this is my first post

    yep, I can't finish them either, it's too booooooriiiiiiingggggggggggg
    I don't blitz .....I just don't like to rush things like that...... it's not fun for me, but I don't turtle either; I just don't expand very fast, I like to build carefully my empire; also I think it's easier to beat the AI (yes, if you can believe it you can humiliate the AI even more like it wasn't retarded enough already) if you rush

    I usually win the game between turns 15 and 30.

    I have just recently started playing a turtle campaign, it's turn 100 and I only control like 20 provinces and I'm so bored I have stopped playing.

    I just think it's such a waste of troops to have them garrisoning. I believe you should always attack and I find this mentality works in most games.

    I'm on turn 141 (1 year per turn) of my first Medieval II long campaign, and I'm having a great time.

    Playing as England, I control most of Europe and all of Africa. The Moorish settlements went rebel when they focused all of their field armies on my main Iberian siege stack. The terrain was perfect for me, and I killed their last family member.

    The Spanish settlements went rebel when I assassinated all of their family members, so most of Iberia is now rebel and ripe for the picking. Milan declared war a few turns ago, and are now no more after assassinating their leader in their last settlement (Zagreb). Sicily declared war two turns ago and are one more turn from decimation.

    I extend my borders a little bit when Poland attacks, despite once having a 103 turn alliance with them that began on the fifth turn. Jerusalem has just gone rebel, so an old Polish crusade stack and the might of the Turkish forces are scrapping over it, with a stack of my own waiting to pounce when the Jerusalem garrison is weakened.

    Poland and Russia appear to pushing west, towards me, just to survive. The Mongols turned up at Sarkel around 15 turns ago, but haven't done anything yet. Russia has been throwing armies at Poland though, so I see a big war happening on my eastern border in the near future.

    When I get all of the rebel settlements in Europe, I'll control around half of the map. With my huge income and secure areas, I can now afford to throw strong stacks into risky battles and have a great time. I've no intention of quitting. I want to take the Americas and I want rip the Timurids apart. This game will end when I control the known world. MUWAHAHA!!!

    well mostly between 70-100 turns although i have a couple longer games and i've conquered the world twice

    I can play on forever. I mean, short campaign, long campaign, makes no difference to me. My campaigns usually last up to turn 250~ and that's when I end them. My latest campaign however came to a halt at 140 because I loved the nation I had created so much I did not want to ruin it.

    most of my campaigns have gone on to the bitter end. i'll plan out my winning turn 20 turns or so in advance and have ridicuously large armies poised to take the 5 cities neccessary for me to win. when the last couple turns roll around...boom.

    250 sounds like a good place for me too. Although I have had one reach 1000(I was trying to be very reliable, and control the entire map)

    meeting the mission objectives, usually isn't why I play.

    if it was Vanilla M2tw, and it was just a matter of reaching the long campaign objective -- really wouldn't take very long. 50 turns give or take


    I play darth mod , 90% of the time I'm playing m2tw, the map is the same but with plenty more settlements - so for most of hte factions, Long campaign requires 100 provinces. Not to mention, the AI has been given steroids so its not so easy to just push a faction over, as they tend to keep big armies and the latest technologies... Most of the time, my best 'home castles' will be just reaching Fortress and the AI will have citadels... Building takes a long time and is extremely expensive ... Dirt roads = 6,400 florins and 6-8 turns. a Citadel is 20,000 and takes 20 turns.
    So in the mod, an average campaign is atleast 100 turns.

    100+ turns normally. More if I like how the game turned out and go for world conquest.

    I RP the games to myself (it's weird I know) and always avoid unrealistic political moves. Always minding the Pope and a strict "defensive war only" policy. It adds to the planning challenge. And no sacking except against opposing religions.

    I have never ever finished a long campaign. I've finished 2 or 3 short campaigns (this is vanilla we're talking too) but never more than that. By around turn 80-100 I get bored and I absolutely hate the fact this game basically forces you to have a large empire. Same with the mods, the emphasis is on expanding fast and gaining territory. I like to feel connected to my family members, generals, diplomats, princesses, it adds to the RPG element. But when you have 50+ regions and you are just mass producing these agents and family members it all just feels cold and uninteresting. It's not easy or fun trying to watch 40 generals or 20 diplomats grow and improve. You just lose track and hence lose interest in the campaign. One settlement is very much like any other, the only difference is population size and on rare occasions, geographical strategic value.

    On top of this, the bigger the game is, ie the more regions, factions, family members, agents, scripts etc the more the game slows down and takes longer to play, which drives me from playing a long game also.

    I wouldn't say I turtle, but I don't blitz at all - boring. I get to usually around 200 turns before I call it quits. I like to climb steadily. I like secure borders and reach out gradually.
    I.E. As France, I like to take Bordeaux to keep my southern front safe - I mean no holes in it. In the east, I create a solid wall of territories before reaching out to the adjacent ones in turn.

    I like to colonize too... I don't really know why. I like to crusade against Egypt and take Gaza, Alexandria, and Cairo.

    I can go on for A VERY LONG damn time (As long as I don't have anything else interesting going on), I've gone to turn 407 (Granted it was in a mod) before; Guess I was just blessed with patience

    And of course counting mods and vanilla I've probably completed 7-8 Long campaigns.
