Contradicting Missions

Don't you just love it when you get told to stop spilling Christian blood for n turns or else excommunication, and then 2 turns later the Pope gives you a new mission that tells you to blockade the port of the very Christian faction you were told to leave alone?

While it's arguable that a blockade does not count a "spilling Christian blood". When I tried to blockade the port a warning message pops up telling me that I would get excommunicated for it.

Do you use any mods? I believe I noticed this happening in Stainless Steel. I didn't realize this problem was in the vanilla game as well.

Just vanilla here, fully patched (that's what I think anyway). I'm still playing my very first campaign you see.

There's a thread I posted a few months ago about it. Perhaps you can just get rid of the blockade mission that the Pope gives out? Or just deal with it I suppose. It really shouldn't happen too often. I think I've seen it happen maybe twice.

The pope definitely does give out contradictory missions.

It is annoying, but fulfill the mission with the harshest consequences. Forget the other one

That dastardly pope is trying to get you excommunicated so he can call a crusade on you! You are a threat to his power and must be eliminated

But anyways never had this happen before I would just go with the one that doesn't get you excommunicated.

The pope is an old, senile man, who doesnt understand the slightest of the world he is living in.
